My Wi-Fi, it's gone out . . .
There are plenty of sad, dark, depressing scenes in Puella Magi Madoka Magica, both the series and the movies. It's the only Magical Girl anime I ever really got into.
I have seen yuki yuna is a hero and that had some sad and depressing moments, but puella magi madoka magica is the winner when it comes to most dark magical girl series.

Anime is a lot like sex. Done right it's a beautiful act of creation that brings a little more light into the world. If it's sick and wrong... it's even better.

^ Some time ago, I posted this review on Erased: https://www.animeforum.com/showthrea...0-Erased-(2016) Maybe I should watch it again when I have the time.
It reminds me of those episodes of Stein's; Gate where Okabe tries to reverse Mayuri's murder. That was a sad scene.
Reminds me of Groundhogs Day and When they Cry
