Centered on the futuristic space war between the Covenant and humanity, or actually based on a video game, HALO Legends is actually seven separate anime films directed by various anime directors. So there really is not a single look for this film. Each segment has its own style and feel. Each segment also has its own story to tell.
One thing which is common to each segment is that despite their own unique look, they all have excellent artwork. The quality of the animation varies, but the battle scenes are top notch.
The only other commonality is, except for one segment, darkness. This is a destructive war with many loses.
HALO Legends has a lot going for it, but to me it just could not get by the lack of a central continuous story. Except for the first two chapters, none has much in common with the others as far as a plot goes. My interest did slip at times.
But if you like action, action, and more action, HALO Legends is for you. It apparently was only released on video, but is now on Netflix Streaming.
