Here is a tale of the old west. The American old west. As seen by Japanese anime producers and writers. Early Reins is the story of a group of young women who protect a train from an army of thieves.

OK. The old west in a very basic anime cliche.

There is a story, but it suffers with poorly written dialog – assuming the English sub-titles are accurate. I did not watch the English dub. It sort of reads like one of those old matinee westerns which still pop up on TV from time to time. You know. The ones from the 1930’s made for kids on Saturday afternoons. Only Early Reins has blood.

No mind candy here. It is a bunch of silliness, though not done poorly. Just fantasy to the extreme where the boundaries of credibility are challenged. But if all you want is silly fantasy with a bit of action, then Early Reins is worth 45 minutes of your time.
