Favorite Final Fantasy??

Hey just wondering if anyone else out there is a huge final fantasy freak like I am. If you are what is your favorite one?
I know it's hard to choose but mine is Final Fantasy 9, the story and characters were the best in my opinion. So let me know what one you liked the most, or didn't like. (Personally I did not like FF8 but that is just my opinion)

This game was a big influence on me growing up.

Even after all these years, it is still totally sick-house epic!

I also loved how huge and open the map was. It had a bigger world than any PS2 game I know of. The final battle was a lot of fun - beat it with one character left alive (Fran at lvl 72, my weakest) with no potions or phoenix downs left.

How great 12 was really made it easy to dislike 13

I need to give it a second chance, it is the only final fantasy I have not completed, and honestly the only reason I stopped playing was because I hated the draw system (I still do)but I did like were the story was going.

I can agree that FF9 had a pretty good story, but the characters..... Not so much. My favorite is close between FF4 and FF6.

FFVI, closely followed by FFVII. I've never seen a game with a story quite like VI (and Locke Cole is a great character, along with Celes, and Edgar, and...a lot of them), and VII was great all across the board. I think VI edges out the win, though. Tactics was great, but the story got pretty convoluted. Even so, it's third in my book, though it's much different in style from the other ones.

Hands down FFVI takes the cake for me. Loved the concept art, music was top tier (not afraid to admit I get choked up hearing/seeing the beginning intro into Narshe) and characters were so gosh darn interesting. The game wasn't afraid to push boundaries on certain subjects too, which was something I got to appreciate more with age. FFIV, VII, IX, X & Tactics all adore pretty evenly too.

While it's a shame to admit it I only ever passed Final Fantasy XIII so it's my favorite one lol. I tried Final Fantasy XIII-2 or Lightning Returns but I never got into them. Before playing Final Fantasy XIII I thought I won't like it that much because of it's turn-based battle system. I wanted it to be a hack n' slash game. But as I played the game I've come to enjoy it the way it is. I loved experimenting with different paradigms / character combinations and seeing what works best in every situation. I would go back to FF13 if I had time, or alternatively - I would try out Final Fantasy VII as it gets a lot of praise.

I like parts 8 and 9. The first 3 did not play, there was no computer at first, and then there were more modern games. Hands did not reach the first parts. In the last 2, if I am not mistaken, I have not played either. But from what I saw, 8 and 9 are the best.

I started with FF VII and played the games straight until XI. Then I decided to explore the oldies, starting with 1, instead of going to XII. Also spin-offs.

1 was very weird, and I play a lot of old games, it was not only the age. Some nintendo hard parts and impossible to follow ending (I know the US translation was crap, but still). 2 had great classless mechanics and better storyline, 3 introduced job mechanics in use today. 4-5 had the mechanics that influence most RPGs released between FF VI and FF X, and cool storylines.

6 takes the cake. Creative mechanics for that time, great soundtrack, linear but very interesting storyline, funny bugs, Kefka playing a better Joker than Joaquin Phoenix. My all time favorite.

After 6, I like VIII, Before Crisis and Crisis Core. XI and XII were cool but I didn't have much time to play them.

IX had weird characters trying to emulate the oldies, I couldn't really get into it. Blitzball sucked (I prefer Drownball), so I didn't care for X much. X-2 made me think I was playing pretty princess dress me up. Haven't played XIII-XV yet.

I've only played 8 and I loved it dearly despite it's issues. It probably has my favorite video game soundtrack and I'm a sucker for Squall & Rinoa


I'm even listening to Eyes On Me right now.

I'll probably play 7 soon, since I really want to check out the other games in the series.
