My Wi-Fi, it's gone out . . .
For me that is a confusing question. Shonen anime is supposed to be geared to young teen males, right? It is hard sometimes to figure out who an anime is geared for. The story may be meant for young teens, but it could contain adult material. Maybe I just don't understand Japanese culture enough to ascertain what is meant for who?
Let me think about this one.
I thought Naruto was a good main character, he never gave up on his goal no matter how many times he was beat down. He made friends even though everyone hated him, he even befriend a 9 tailed fox demon and Gaara(a demon in his own way, well at least when we first meet him). (But Gaara is my favorite naruto character)
Does Ajin: Demi-Human count as a Shonen anime? If so, the anti-hero Kei is a good one.
Ash Ketchum is a good protagonist, just a tough-as-nails, friendly guy. He has such heart and is ready to face every challenge. His Pikachu, however, is a lady for not evolving.
Ash is in my top 3 for best Shonen protagonist. Of course, on that list he's number 3.
