Yesterday I got a message on my phone to call Microsoft. Apparently my service contract will come to an end. This is an obvious scam. Microsoft don't work that way.
Just giving everyone a heads up!

Yup! It's a common scam, Microsoft will never call you.

I never hear about this happening in Australia, where I live. I'm sure it happens though. But I do hear about this happening a lot over in England. I have a mate that has this happen to him on a near fortnightly bases he says.

I got an email saying that my bank were going to charge me 80 euro per month for GoDaddy unless I responded. Obviously I didn't, but there are some serious assholes out there.
I used to get e-mails from a Nigerian prince offering me a cut of his multi-million dollar bank account if I helped him move his money to the US. Now I delete as spam any e-mail from any address I do not recognized. I don't even open it.
Heh, if you have domains it can be even worse. I often get letters in the mail that look like bills for domains that I own. If I were to carelessly pay one of the bills, I'd be transferring the domain to the new company as a registrar, locked under contract and at a rate 2 - 5 times higher than I'd pay anywhere else.

Sometimes, I wil get a message that I have contracted a virus on my computer, the Zeus virus, and to call a number, which is supposed t be Microsoft, they also lock the browser. I wonder if that's a scam as well, I have had that occur a few times. I just close the browser and run antivirus software instead of calling.
I've gotten to the point where I update my virus protection daily, and twice a week scan.
