Does art style affect how serious a plot can be to you?

Could you watch an anime with a "serious" plot and charachters if they looked like the standard "moe" characters or a simplified artstyle? download ringtones free
I've seen people say they can't take a show that tries to be serious seriously unless it has somewhat equal proportions (eyes,body,legs etc)

It can but ultimately it's the dynamics. Even a show with super moe characters can be taken seriously depending on how it clicks with you. Sometimes art I dislike ruins the whole thing for me, like Orange which melted down episode after episode, and I couldn't take it seriously at all by the end. Certainly if a character has plates for eyes and toothpicks for limbs it would be hard to take them seriously, but I think it just depends on how the overall tone is handled. and how the animation quality is, that matters sometimes!

Tbh, I was bothered with the art style at first, but that changed after watching Higurashi no naku koro ni. The characters look extremely cute, but the plot was serious af. I kinda like that contrast of the characters looking moe and the setting being creepy as grozit
