Yes, after a long time of sitting idle and untouched, with a relatively quick set of actions, the AF FB page is alive again! More changes and updates will be coming soon, but the most important thing is getting it active. All suggestions, comments, and such for the page will be appreciated and taken into consideration.

Guess what? I discovered this because as Deathy knows, I run a page too. Facebook have become money grabbing assholes. When you share a post on an FB page, it reaches only a very small percentage of those who have liked your page because FB want you to pay for posts. That percentage has gotten smaller and smaller over time. When I first set up my page, it was reaching a large percentage, now it isn't. If it's something majorly important, it might be worth paying for the post to reach everyone, but the most effective way is probably getting members to share things. It sucks.

You're absolutely right, Darkand. But I'm gonna leave the money matters to the SA's and Site Owner. For now, I'll trust that those whom care enough on FB will also visit the page as well instead of wait for it to creep up on their feed.

Facebook are total assholes. I get that they're a business, but it doesn't work for people who are running on an almost 0 profit basis.

I don't know how effective this is, but you could ask people who care to select the "all on" and "see first" options under the Liked button. You're not a spammy page, so it shouldn't affect their regular feed.

I wouldn't call a business that tries to make money off of your business that. It's a business and they are indeed in it to make money and that's their bottom line.

Either way it's all a form of science. Social media and networking. It's something I'm familiar with and I don't think I'd pay for more exposure as currently whenever I post something it does fairly well considering the circumstances of the page being inactive for years. To be effective it has to be maintained.

SEO and all of the logistics and statistics are something I've been dealing with throughout the years with a personal business and running a side business for a good friend of mine for a few years.

At some point you will have to pay. Be it advertisements or what. That's just the nature of owning a business; it's not free (and sometimes not cheap). To make money you have to be willing to spend money. You don't want businesses making tons of money off of your sites without getting a cut . You'd be dried up before you knew it. So in turn facebook can't really charge it's personal users but there's nothing wrong with charging businesses who make profits.

Even if you don't make a profit you can use the service and get traffic which is a huge benefit otherwise you wouldn't bother at all. Might not be as ideal as you'd like but it is what it is.

Blueangel, I both agree and disagree with your points as someone who probably has an equal amount of experience with social media. :P The organic reach on posts is minimal now, very minimal. It used to sit someplace like 14-16% and I was okay with that because one of my pages is well... quite a similar concept to AF (it's a thing that doesn't make money, but has fans). However it is active. Like, I wouldn't pay for my posts to have reach on that either. Well... I might do for something really major soon as a once off, but yeah haha. I would probably throw a guess at 3-5% organic reach now in the past few months for "successful" posts. Could have a less than 1% reach on a post that doesn't meet whatever requirements they have set at the time. Reqs keep changing periodically of course. As you know, that's how SEO works. Unless you're sharing posts and have people willing to share them, a business won't go far on FB without forking out a few quid here and there. It works pretty well for businesses who do giveaways though (like and share to win) because their posts are going to reach a hell of a lot of people that way. People like freebies XD.

Anyway, I didn't really post to get into the statistics of Facebook, but rather to give a heads up to deathybutt. :P

Yup; we have a FB page as well as a newly started pinterest, instagram, and twitter. We gotta keep up with the times.... Despite even being late to the party on that as well.. Classic AF.
