Something with both? Try Haiyore
It's more of a comedy parody, but it has both Yuri and Yaoi.
Just not as intense as all the others

Yaoi is generally used for joking isn't it? More than yuri anyway.

Anime is a lot like sex. Done right it's a beautiful act of creation that brings a little more light into the world. If it's sick and wrong... it's even better.

If you have seen one South Park episode, you'll know the difference, it dealt with the Asian girls at South Park elementary who drew Yaoi pictures, it's basically guy on guy where Yuri is basically-lesbians. I'm watching a real Yuri type anime- Strawberry Panic, set in an all girls school, but it has a minimal of sex, but the manga is a little more explicit. Sakura Trick is also kinda a Yuri anime.
if you want explicit, try "Queen's Blade", Bleach, Puni Puni Poemy... they're out there. And Strawberry panic has it's moments... with the bad girls... though the bedroom scenes and the horse stable too for the others... lots of groping as well.
I think the original yuri pair for most Americans is either Sailor Neptune and Uranus in Sailor moon or Sakura and Tomoyo in Card Captors... Possibly Dawn and Zoey

Sukisho is a fantastic yaoi series with an amazing plot line. Also Vassalord and Gravitation are good as well.
As for yuri, I really like Burst Angel.
For one with both I'd definitely try Loveless, I have the whole series up to the recent one and the anime is good, too.
aaa i need to catch up on loveless, i was really into it in high school
gravitation was my introduction to yaoi, actually...quite..some time ago...
but if we're doing recommendations, i can't quite recommend any yaoi or yuri that isn't just a blatant smut doujin
but, if you want blantant smut doujin recommendations i can certainly help in that department
Is there any way to stop anime companies from editing out it's yuri characters?

I have no problem with either. Hmm but, I guess I prefer yaoi. :3
The best must always be treated with respect.
Come on, what yuri and yaoi series have you watched lately? Legend of Korra anyone?
Or maybe some character you only suspect is, but have no 100% proof?

I'm not real fond of either genre, mostly because I'm not into anything sexual, but there was this one show that stuck out for me.
I really liked Antique Bakery. Seriously, that was a hidden jewel I wasn't expecting to find at all, especially since a friend of mine who tends to be unreliable recommended it in the first place. What I liked most about the series was how it focused more on the relationships and conflicts between the characters and in their lives, as opposed to the blatant stereotyping and rush to sexual outcome I'm used to seeing in the genre. It gets old fast. There were a couple "hidden" calls to the usual stereotypes (I say 'hidden' because I didn't notice them at first), but overall, this was a beautiful series. The pacing was good despite it being short, which is also unusual. Shorter series tend to be too fast or slow to the point where the ending comes too soon and makes little to no sense. My friend, as I remember, did not like the ending of the series because there was never any sexual outcome. However, everything was resolved even if there wasn't a happy ending or two guys in bed. Every character found their calling or their inner peace, and the finale leaves you with this sense of tranquility and happiness, almost as if you felt like everything was going to be alright.
To give you a small taste--no pun intended--of what Antique Bakery is about: the series follows the main character, who somewhat abruptly quits his job to start a bakery in the building where an old antiques shop used to be, hence the name of the bakery and the show. He gathers a team of three other people from all walks of life to help run the shop--his life-long friend, an ex-boxer, and his high-school victim. The chemistry between all of the characters, not just the main cast, makes for an interesting watch. There are a lot of inside jokes and random antics that run around the show, but at the same time, these are balanced out by some darker underlying themes that really drive the plot. Overall, I seriously recommend this show. I'm hardly a fan of yaoi or yuri and I still really enjoyed this.
Now, since I've really only talked about one half of the argument, I need to move onto the other, namely yuri. I can't say I've ever watched yuri, unfortunately. I've seen bits and pieces here and there, and it seems to be there for about the same reason as its counterpart, which to me seems to be for straight people to get gratification. I don't particularly enjoy seeing stereotypes enforced within genres by themselves, but especially since what I see mostly encourages people to idolize members of the LGBT community and force them to fit into cookie-cutter roles, I'm not fond of either genre.
How do you feel when it's intentionally edited out of an anime?

I just read the Strawberry panic manga and Novels. They are VASTLY different from the television series. It's a completely different story. And they never even finished the manga.

There are some good yaoi and yuri out there that are both cute, funny and sexy. Perhaps you'll want to look some up if your not offended by that sort of show, I think there pretty cute.
Also it (sadly) doesn't have to be any more sexual than any other relationship. sometimes (far too often) it's all about romance.

Echidna from Queen's Blade does know how to hit on a girl though. or Chizuru from Bleach.

Okay so Citrus 8 just came out (pun intended) and I looked up #9 which was depressing as all hell. So here's how it all ends, since the Japanese version came out this month and it'll be like a year before the final 10th volume is released here.
Also there appears to be a spin off planned.

Volume 10 of Citrus was quite nice, though they could have added a few pages.
Anyone else reading Murcielago?
