What do Anime shows mean to you?

Hello forum community,
What do certain shows you have seen mean to you? For me, I grew up with a harsh life and re-watching anime shows such as Dragonball Z bring back pleasant and happy memories. It was when my older brother would watch it as a young adult and (despite 17 years old) my parents forbid me . I would sneak in and watch it with him and it was just a family happy bonding moment. My brother and I were so close and it is one of few memories of why life can be good.

So, what anime shows mean what to you? Do you watch anime with friends, family, pets, alone? Any memories that are nice, horrific, or embarrassing? Why do you re-watch anime? Thanks.

Well, as a man of 46, married over 20 years, and with 6 children, it is a much needed bit of relaxation at the end of a long day. Beyond that, not much. I'm not obsessed over it.

Haha anyway.

To me anime is an escape. Iv been through alot in my life. Iv been a criminal, iv been suicidal more than a few times. Iv got myself into some stupid situations. And Iv lost people who were very close to me. But if I'm thinking too much or having a hard day or I'm not ok anime is something that brings it's own emotions. No matter what's going on in my life these characters are my friends and they cheer me up. Or make me sad, or brave or whatever.. I mean I'm not obsessed with anime. And it's not the only thing that keeps me happy (drinking helps haha), but it is one of my favorite hobbies (I'd like to clarify that all my hobbies are legal for the last few years). And that's what it means to me I guess.

Anime is just something I watch all the time and thoroughly enjoy. It's a source of entertainment, inspiration, happiness, sadness, I love to surround myself with it and delve into its stories. You can also find some of the best people who are anime fans.

Proud. Anime has always entertained, since I first started watching Digimon, Pokemon, Dragonball Z, Gundam Wing, ThunderCats, and Sailor Moon. It is a terrific genre. I love it so much that I've become a writer of anime. I hope my anime will be picked up and shown to the world and have a lasting impact upon generations as well.

In a lot ways its an escape for me and a way to cheer me up when I'm down. I've always been a bit of a loner and have dealt with depression most all my life. I feel like I'm in my own little world when I watch it. It's just all the way around awesome! = D

Some anime genuinely make me feel feelings and it becomes addicting like a drug. Not a lot do that, but the ones that do really impact my mind and feelings.

Additionally, its fun to share interest with friends and its a good way to find friends.

A unique type of artistic expression, one that I think stands on it's owns from others, I love animation and art in general, so it encourages and enlightens me to new things.

It takes me back to simpler times and times that weren't so bad (at least by comparison to the present). It's like an escape like music. It also helps with my insomnia. I can't sleep without playing old episodes of something like Trigun on my computer.
