[Third Memory]

Once upon a time, there lived a wizard who had lost his lover.
He sought a forbidden secret formula made to resurrect the dead.
Knowing only misfortunes befall whoever shall invade its domain,
Why do people venture to seek out the human-incomprehensible vigours of the Genie...?

Fierce wind brews up a sandstorm,
Blocking the way of the young traveller.
His companionship for the journey consists of one camel.
Climbing over the sand hills, they make their way toward the city...

"Would you care for a Magic Lamp?"
A shady bearded man whispered.
A bargain took place in a dim black alley;
He accepted the man's proposal...

"Once you scrub the Lamp, a Genie will appear to grant you three wishes.", he said.
The man informed him of its whereabouts provided he will spare him one of the wishes.
"That Lamp is sealed within a certain cave located in the southwest.", he said.
He went down into the cave hole in place of the man, saying he had a bad leg...

There was vast hollow space underneath the desert.
Freezing air lightly skimmed along my spine.
In the far end of the cave, stood a suspicious-looking altar,
With a golden Lamp and an old runner.
The cave began to collapse as I grabbed for the Lamp.
"Quickly, hand me over the Lamp!", the man shouted...

A familiar voice is heard amid the pitch darkness--
A warm light... A beloved voice is heard:

"You are not yet to come here...
Surely, there still ought to be things in life you wish to do..."

Focus on what lies before you..."

When I came to, the sand welled up and embraced me on top of a sand hill.
A beautiful girl with dark hair was smiling whilst crying.

"I have been held prisoner to a rondo of ancient sins and divine punishments within this Lamp.
You have set this foolish me free, Master!
Please, do make a wish."

Once all three wishes have been granted, the girl
Will merely shiver in long solitude to come under the cold sand again...

And then, he wished...

昔あるところに　恋人を亡くしたひとりの魔法使いがいた
彼が求めたのは　死者を甦らせる禁断の秘法
領分を侵す者に降りかかるのは　厄災のみと識りながら
何故人は求めるのか？　人知を超えた魔神の力を…

吹き荒ぶ風は砂を巻き上げて
若い旅人の行く手を阻む
旅の道連れは一頭の駱駝
砂丘(おか)を乗り越えて街へと向う…

「魔法のランプが欲しくはないか？」
胡散臭い髭の男が囁いた
薄暗い路地裏での駆け引き
彼は男が持出した条件を飲んだ

ランプを擦ると魔神が現れ　3つの願いを叶えてくれると云う
願い事を1つ譲るという条件で　彼はその在処を聞き出した
そのランプは南西にある洞窟に封印されているという
片足が悪いという男の代わりに　彼は穴の中へと降りた…

砂漠の下には　大きな空洞
冷たい空気が　背筋を掠める
洞窟の奥には　妖しい祭壇
黄金のランプと　古びた絨毯
ランプを手に取ると　洞窟が崩れた
「ランプを早くこっちへよこせ！」　男が叫んだ…

暗い闇の中　懐かしい声を聴く
暖かな光　愛しい声を聴く

「貴方はまだこっちへ来てはいけないわ
遣り残したことがきっとあるはず…」

目醒めれば砂が巻き上がる　砂丘(すな)の上で抱かれていた

「古の罪と罰の輪舞曲(ロンド)　ランプに閉じ込められていた
愚かな私を出してくれたご主人様(マスター)
さぁ願いをどうぞ、叶えましょう」

3つの願い全て叶えたら少女は再び
唯冷たい砂の下で幾千の孤独に震える…

そして彼は願った…
