I was in a sudden mood to draw a cat-girl so I introduce to you Mai :3

I'm not good in drawing as you'll see, I still need to learn how to control my grip & shading, but I thought that it will be fine sharing this with you guys, so.. yeah, feedback is much appreciated

I found this drawing to be really cute, especially since the expression gives somewhat of a mischief vibe...it totally gives a character.
What I'll suggest is next time to try and make a draft before you start a drawing and leave a little bit of space at the top.
That way you can draw the ears a little bit more bigger and don't be afraid to add more shaddows to the drawing.
Overall, I found it really good and I see that you've got talent so keep up the good work, because practise makes perfect.
By honing your skill your get places. Keep on drawing and posting your works. I'll be looking forward to it

Nice, and you know, this reminded me of a publication I used to read called Mai. It wasn't a manga, as it was front to back, left to right, and published in english, but it was definitely manga / anime style. This was about 15-20 years ago. I wonder if it was an adaptation...

You got a keen eye and your tips are pretty useful, your suggestion about drafting before drawing is something I really should follow since I agree that I needed more space on the top and the ears should've been a bit bigger. For the shadows, I need to practice a lot more before I could master that.

I'll take all your tips and practice more, hopefully you could see the improvements in my coming work, I really appreciate your feedback

Well, it must be a coincidence.
I just happened to have the mood to draw a cat-girl & I thought that the name "Mai" would fit her :3

The naming was derived from "Mia" which sounds pretty much like the sound cats make(Meow) without the (aw) part at the end. I just flipped the letters i and a in "Mia" to give the name an oriental feel, thus Mai

I'm interested in that publication you mentioned, mind sharing the name of the magazine or a screen shot maybe?
