my favorite was XP, i'm currently running 7 on my laptop. i requested a Win7 laptop over the more common Win8 ones because I dislike it.

Many of us like windows XP; its so versatile & simple, I could say its one of the best windows OS ever made if not the best. so, it's my favorite
The thing is the newer versions get a lot of additional features & graphical modifications, which is not necessary for me, simplicity is all what I need.
I'm using windows Vista, longer booting & loading but I'm not complaining
Windows 7 is definitely a lot better than Vista though, just for you to know
mine are windows 7 and 8
I prefer Windows 7. Been running a lot of OS through the years, and I also liked vista, but preferably I would choose Windows 7, definitely over Windows 8. I don't like that one!
Just looking for something beautiful
For the longest time it was windows 7, because of the simplicity. I briefly tried windows 8 back when it first came out, hated it and went back to windows 7.
About 6 months ago I tried windows 8.1, and realized that with a lot of modification, it wasn't so bad. I've gotten it to work and look like windows 7 mostly, while also having the benefits of a newer OS.

Win 7 and 8.
8 is crap. XP was tolerable and 7 is my favorite. Haven't dealt with 8.1 much, but from what I've experienced it's definitely a big improvement over the gimmicky crapfest 8 was.
I haven't tried Win 8.1 myself yet, I thought it was just like Win 8?
I think Win 7 is the most convenient choice right now, I will just wait for Windows 10 hopefully its anything better
I like Win7!
And I don't like win8...looking forward win10!
Easily Windows XP or Windows 7

Window XP FTW!
Win 7 is still my favorite. Though I've been using 8.1 for awhile and I must say it's quite nice. Fast boot and all that.
I rarely post, yo.
I would have to say my top 3 would be:
1.Windows 7 (Its easy to use runs fast)
2.Windows 8.1 (I like that they are trying something different and for me its always been just as fast if not faster then 7)
3.windows XP Professional/custom (Its reliable and had good security [especially pro])
honestly I don't feel that windows 8.1 is really given much of a chance because of the horror story that was windows 8. 8.1 has its differences and over all improves on 8.

From what I've seen so far Windows 8.1 must've been good, but I overlooked it due to the reasons mentioned earlier, but I'll try to keep my heads up from now on & be open to whatever's out there, sadly though due to the anticipation for Win 10, I might not get the chance to try Win 8.1 :/

I'm still not fully sure what to expect from windows 10. haven't done a lot of looking in to it but i'm optimistic about it. Windows 8.1 is good, certainly a lot better then its given credit for. Still though its hard to place above 7 honestly I would say that they are about equal but its really all about what your looking for in an OS. Want to try something new with some interesting new features and ideas go with Windows 8.1. However if you want to stick to what you know something both fast and efficient go with windows 7.
I don't mind W8-has some good features, it's simple, clean, easy to use. On the flip side though in almost every area ift feels like a step back from, in my opinion, the superior W7. 7 is far less restricting then 8, feels more like a refined Window Desktop OS like XP, rather than 8 being more like a Tablet/Phone hybrid.
I would say 7 is the best-Windows XP is just a bit beofre my time and used it mostly as a kid and early teen-Vista was straight up bad in almost every respect of the word. Never used any other Desktop Windows OS's other than those.
Favourite Windows OS:
Windows 98, first OS on my computer (Internet Explore, Worms 2, Runescape)
XP, Quicker and easier to install then the precedes. (The Elder Scrolls: Morrowind, Oblivion)
W7, Compatibility with x86 (32-bit) and x64 (64-bit) applications and more memory. (Bioshock, Skyrim, Portal)
Least Favourite:
Windows Vista, Crashes and bugs.
Windows 8, tabled based, missing menu start (after update this is little bit fixed), sometimes buggy.

I like WinXP's visual interface, but it doesnot support usb 3.0 and bad with working with new processors, and many other things. So i use linux mint.
Currently using Windows 10 Technical Preview Pro. It's okay, but I prefered 8.1 better.

Of the ones I've used, my favorite Windows OS is Windows XP. With the Windows Classic theme, the user interface was simple and mostly logical. The OS didn't freeze or crash very often, and I also liked that it didn't ask for me to confirm many different actions.
Windows 7, hands down, although Windows XP is also worthy of mention since I've always liked the XP interface (which imo is timeless), and it did a fine job of driving my humble Pentium 3 back in the day.
Windows 10 is pretty sweet.

For me as far as Winders go, it's easily 7. Everything works fast and consistently, high reliability, and a very solid "it just works" factor. 8's a close second just because it takes a bit of fiddling to get it where I like it... with a bit of tweakery it's a near tie for me. Before that, 2K Pro. XP wasn't bad, big annoyance factor with it's poor stability though, could get Explorer to crash just by looking at it funny.
