Funny "don't copy that floppy" public service anouncement.

This ad was part of an anti-piracy campaign, from a really long time ago. These teens are about to make an illegal copy of a computer program on a floppy disk, when suddenly some guy in the computer monitor starts rapping about how you shouldn't make illegal copies of software. In the end, it shows the guy who was about to make an illegal copy deciding to do the right thing and not making that copy.





Then they made this sequel that is updated to more modern technology. It has the data storage medium in question being a CD instead of a floppy disk, and the piracy was going to be an upload to the internet (rather than another floppy disk). Again this guy starts rapping that illegal piracy is bad. And then there's some imagery of FBI SWAT guys bust into a pirate's house and end up arresting the teenage pirate's mom. In the end, to avoid all these problems, again the pirate decides to stop pirating.





I have yet to see an even more updated version featuring DVDs or Bluray disks.

One word: Patronising.

Reminds me of the time Sega tried to use their spiky blue mascot to discourage kids from taking drugs. "Don't do drugs, kids!" was the tagline, or something like that...
