Love is a mystery
Chemical in its periphery
Carnal by its tenacity
Beautiful in its complexity
Simple or enigmatic
It causes happiness and panic
Sometimes chosen, or automatic
It envelops the human heart
With a certain sort of light
The wings of words in flight
That comfort every night
Or make them feel sore
A risk and a reward
The shield and the sword
A river we may ford
Should we wish it so
I can't help but find treason
In the bare sense of its reason
"Reproductive seasons"
"More!" I implore
That the Gods might yet exist
And grant us this to persist
For happiness lays betwixt
Two hearts in harmony
My desires are always swept
Into the etiquette so kept
Can't remember when they wept
For the loss of the whole
A binding sort of finding
Discoveries residing
In the darkest corners hiding
Waiting to awaken from slumber
A second thought-
Might prove me wrong,
But until that day
I'll walk to the rhythm
Of this song.
