Andriod: Undercity
The future is the scythe that reaps the present.
In the name of progess, humanity has begun its crawl out of earths cradle. Colonies have been set up on the Moon and Mars. A massive space elevator, the “Beanstalk”, stretches out from the equatorial city of New Angeles like Babel. Everywhere mankind spreads outward.
But progress does not only move borders, but also the body. Advances in neurobiology have digitized the human brain, blurring the line between man and machine. No longer are computers outside of us, but they exist within our heads.
Leading this charge are the megacorporations, called corps by most, who own most every facet of day to day life, from the food we eat to the petty enjoyments of men. Jinteki and Haas-Bioroid twist the definition of life itself making clones and bioroids with braintaped, artificially intelligent minds. The Weyland Consortium dominates construction and trade, more than happy to deal dirty when the need strikes. And NBN shapes the opinions of the people. With the largest media network ever, a person may never read a news story that wasn’t preapproved by the NBN.
But where there is the light of progress, the shadow of crime lays long. These same corporations fight and squabble amongst themselves, hiring thugs and espionage agents. Criminals seek they money these corps traffic in. Anarchists fight their oppressive dominance. And then there are those who do walk the bad side of the law, in the words of hacker extraordinaire g00ru, “for the lulz”.
You are one of these individuals. You’re life is hard and you do whatever it takes to survive. You do the dirty jobs, stealing, killing, and hacking, whatever needs doing. But you do not work alone. With a group of allies, if not always friends, you make your way in this dark and twisted future.
Welcome to the Undercity.
Races:
Naturals: Your basic human being. Nothing special but that in itself can be a blessing.
G-mods: A person who received genetic therapy after conception. The modification can take the form of an appearance difference or may simply be intellectual or physical enhancements. Distinct from clones, who possess no legal rights.
Cyborgs: A natural human who has replaced one or more (or all) of their body parts with a robotic variant.
Clones: Sythetic humans grown in tanks. They are considered “biological androids” and as such do not possess human rights.
Bioriods:
These robotic humans are constructed exclusively by Haas-Bioroid. Their intelligences are based on highly advanced scans of particular human brains. For example, Alix T4LBO7, a model used in the market sector is based off the brain scans of a particularly skilled stock market trader. With the exception of pleasure-bots, most bioroid have synthskin only on their faces and hands and distinct silver eyes. However, with proper covering, they can pass for human. It’s a carefully guarded secret that bioroids have been known to break from programming and act independently.
Classes:
Runner: As a runner, you’re primary skill is hacking and disabling electronic security systems. In response to numerous incidents involving runners getting access to classified documents, most corp facility now have network “shells” where each layer is unconnected to the network before or after. This means runners have to go into the facility to access documents. A valuable support class with weak combat abilities.
Combat-specialist: When things get heavy, you bring the pain. Its always the hope that the mission goes smoothly, but when it doesn’t your team is happy you’re around. With heavy weapons, and the skill to use them, you dominate a firefight.
Covert Ops: Corps guard their facilities with more men than you can hope to defeat. So don’t. The covert Ops unit specializes in getting through their defenses unseen and unheard. Don’t get caught!
Support: A catch all term for many different types of characters. Medics, demolition, and face type characters all fall under the auspices of the Support class. You bring an intangible edge and make the rest of the team work better.
Important Note: When making your character, leave your “Team” and “Bio” fields blank.
After every one has posted their character, I will distribute the characters into teams, most likely two. Each team is encouraged to talk amongst themselves to determine how their character came to be allied with each other. If you really want to go the extra mile, you can even talk to members of the other team to form possible rivalries or other backgrounds to add tension when the two teams encounter one another.
Each team operates independently, and will be given mission, sometimes these missions will involve the two teams working together, other times they will be oppose, and occasionally their missions will be parallel and not necessarily intersect.

With his skills it unclear whether his perpetual poverty is a deliberate choice or a result of a lack of ambition.
