Popups

Every single page i visit on the forums spawns a popup. A large localized popup (text is in swedish, advertises "NKL Jackpot" or some such, covers half my screen)... in a new window every time. :angry:

Now that's REALLY annoying.

Weird, I've been using IE for almost two months now since I lost AOL (Which has popupblocker) and the only pop ups I get are Private Messages.

I've been surfing the forums all day and I haven't had a single popup. If you -do- get a popup, just to be safe, take a screen cap and email it to me or something.

Ok, this is what got (when turning off my pop-up blocker)

Firstly it just appeard as a blank (white) new window, but after several pop-ups I got this.

Edit: Ah, and I got this when right clicking on the image

So, there are popups, or what spawns them? I have yet to get a popup ... ((which is normally the case for some reason)).

Normally, Ace or Minako get the brunt of it and message me; I've yet to get a complaint from either.

And, in the past, only AdTegrity would spawn popups ... advertising.com has -never- caused issue.

Well ... I'll go yell at some of the staff at ClickHype ...

I know that, at one point, I was getting popups, but it had nothing to do with the sites that I was accessing. As a matter of fact, there was a parasite in my server that made a popup appear on nearly all of the websites I accessed. Luckily, I was able to quash it with my anti-viris... you might want to check that out.

my pop-up blocker blocks the occassional AG pop-ups. What I have gotten is adware from the ads and they have embedded themselves into my comp, creating pop-ups anytime i go on the internet. Adaware fixes it, though... but still gets annoying.

That adware issue last month was actually executed across all major advertisement companies. Someone found a way to sneak in the code to companeis such as ClickHype, DoubleClick, ValueClick, and various others. That is not what is happening now.

I dont know about anyone else, but when I'm browsing wp at animewallpaper.com, I get destroyed with popups, and the 'you must click yes to view thie site' thing

AnimeWallPapers.com website has nothing to do with our website codes. They have their own popup codes that they willingly place on the sites.

I have been using no sort of popup blocker whatsoever, and i haven't gotten any form of popups on these sites in quite some time. Some number of months, i'm certain. I have to say, more than likely, what you are seeing is a result of some sort of spyware installed from some other source. I can't think of any other reason for you to be getting popups, but others do not. Watch what other sites you go to that tend to put things like that on your system. (Specifically you with the Swedish popups. That seems to go along with my theory as well)

I have to agree partly with Aaron. I too have no popup blocking software, and I have always gotten popups when they were actually on the sites.

At any rate, I've contacted ClickHype just to make sure it is them. The URL of the banner Wizzard put up, I know the advertisement company. Advertising.com has NEVER been a problem ever in my memory. However, adsdk.com is a constant problem, but they are not associated with ClickHype as ClickHype cancelled their service over two months ago.

Hm, I don't think that's a spyware problem. I have ad-watch monitoring and blocking my comp and I've also run Ad-Aware (and it didn't find anything).

Oh, and those pop-ups shows only on animeglobe and animegalleries, haven't seen them on other sites.

Took a few screencaps. Localized popups. One even tried to install spyware onto my box (but since i run Linux it didn't know what to do with the .exe :-)

And it's no adware problem. I get them on my solaris box as well... and the day there are adware for solaris something has gone seriously wrong.

Usually I'm the first to report popups and I haven't gotten any, I'm afraid its not from our forums. If anything with the amount that I'm going thru all of the forums, on all of the sites and all of the galleries I'd hit em sometime. I'm afraid thats from somewhere else, sorry. ;_;

The whole that that you got a German popup tells me it can't be ClickHype. THe only place German popups exist on ClickHype is for one publisher who does German traffic and nobody else. Besides; since you don't live in Germany, you'd never see anything German. ClickHype geo-targets ads; this means that if you live in America, you see only American ad's, and if you live in Germany then you only see German ads.

Try clearing out your cache. I know that when we ran a test for another company, they thought we were okay with popups and ran then until I asked to have them removed. You may be loading a cached version of the site with their code still on the pages.

Renamed .mozilla/ to .foobar/ (the definitive .xpi and cache remover) and is till got popups.
And it's Swedish ads, not german.

I only get them when i use mozilla. Not konqueror. On the other hand konqueror is a worthless heap of junk that probably can't open a popup in any case.
