Higurashi no naku koro ni/ Higurashi When the Cicadas cry

anybody else feel like besdies being a supernatural anime that Higurashi is a psychological horror series? I mean not so much a thriller, and bloody scare as it was just making me shiver with every surprise that came along with it. My favorite moments were in the first character arch with episodes two and three of that. Watching this series alone with headphones was a mistake enough but in the dark during a stormy night just made it all the more frighting!

I havent had the opportunity to watch all the side anime series of higurashi but i heard they werent relevant to the first series so i havent really made any attempt

I want the games remade! I wish i never sold my gameboy T.T

Higurashi was one of my favorite series. Both seasons and the OVA arc (Rei) were all great and yes, it is a psychological horror.

This is why I am so looking forward to watching this anime. I just started it tonight and finished the first two episodes, so not into anything too deep yet, but I can tell it's getting there. I've been trying for along time to find something so thrilling, so I really hope it delivers for me!
