Do you like ecchi?

Well, do you? Not every anime fan likes this more than usual sexualized anime genre, and to be honest some of it can be considered shameless. Watch Queen's Blade if you don't believe me.

My Opinion: Sometimes. Not all ecchi are super bad, but alot of it is pretty damn bad.

Which is things like panty shots and the like. Ecchi tends to contain nudity and the like. Though it does not usually contain sex. I detest fan service and tend not to watch ecchi due to a lack of general interest. Though I have seen a few.

To Love-Ru, KissXSis and Highschool DxD are ecchi, how can no one like them?
Sora no Otoshimono has groping and fan service, but no nudity.

No it's not. Since fan service isn't limited to just panty shots. It can be references to other animes or simply spoofing a specific genre.

"Ecchi" is not limited to just defining a genre. "Ecchi" just means any perversion found in an anime.

No, ecchi is a genre. Those perversions you're refering to fall under fan service. Things like panty shots, chest groping and what ever else you want to put in that's there to please the fan without crossing into MA territory.

"Ecchi" does not exclusively refer to a genre. And even then, any anime with ecchi scenes can be classifiable as part of the ecchi genre, but as said, it does not exclusively refer to a genre and has multiple uses outside of your single absolute definition of the word with no slight variation in its usage.

Damn. By this logic wouldn't most animes be ecchi? To be ecchi it needs to have a bigger amount of perversion than usual.

I don't hate it, but sometimes is does get annoying. I like ecchi in small proportions. If their popping off ecchi like crazy, it tends to ruin the mood of the anime and destroy it in my opinion.

I don't go looking for it, but at the same time I won't stay away from it.

@Anime Forum I have a bit of a difference in a opinion there. I really see the majority of anime as being ecchi in my viewpoint. You even see it popping up in Japanese kids shows like Lucky Star, Today in Class 5-2, and Dokoro-chan. But to each their own.

Even if the people who made the show/all websites dedicated to the anime don't list it as an ecchi o_o? I'm not even forcing my opinion on you, but asking why you think a show is ecchi if nothing labels it as an ecchi?

You are talking about genres here now, not content. AKB0048 has some good action in it just as Today in Class 5-2 has ecchi in it. If I say "this anime is ecchi," it means I'm saying this anime perverted, not saying anything about what genre the anime is.

You mean your logic, not mine. I just got done saying ecchi doesn't exclusively refer to a genre; you said, "yeah, ok;" I then say anime is ecchi; and you start going on insinuating that I'm talking exclusively about genres....

Except what you're referring to is fan service. Ecchi is a step beyond that and hentai is a step beyond that. And in some cases dig a grave and bury your eyeballs beyond that. Partial nudity wouldn't be considered ecchi. Ecchi tends to contain full on nudity without it being covered up in some way. Things like hot spring scenes aren't remotely ecchi. Nor is seeing a girl in lingerie. What I believe you're referring to is gratuitous titillation which falls under fan service.
