It is easier than you think.

    What is a Linux distribution?
    1. Linux kernel
    2. GNU userland
    3. Software of your choice
    4. Graphics
    5. Package manager

Aside of the last two, your distribution is pretty much done. And even then, you can adapt yum, apt, or pkgsrc to your distribution. As for anime graphics, you'll need permission to distribute copyrighted works.

    What would this distribution offer?

If you're looking for graphics, I think this project is better suited to creating themes for desktop environments like KDE or Gnome than full-fledged Linux distributions.

Yeah, that's kinda an issue for me as well, unless you're planing on creating a desktop environment from scratch, aren't you just gonna compile a custom distro then slap some default wallpapers on it? I don't really get what you're aiming at for right now.

Edit: That kinda felt too harshly worded, let me rephrase:

Do you have any solid plans you can share aside from the name? What would you be doing to make it an OS tailored specifically for those interested in Anime/Manga? Would it simply be a standard distro built over an existing DE? (ie KDE, Cinnamon, etc) or are you trying to build literally from scratch?

Apt or yum are the basic two choices.

This gets back to my core point, if you're just going to compile a custom distro like that with an environment that already exists, then...well, it's just putting pieces together, and you don't really need a "team" per-say for that.

That leads to my other point, and kinda the key point here, what would make this distro specifically catered towards those who would pick something called "AnimeOS"? Is it something that would make it so that people in the know wouldn't simply just get a vanilla install of Arch then add their preferred DE and applications?
    Less is more.

    I've tried arch.
But that is costum but hard to install for new users.
I want to make an distro with VLC and codecs.
Also it has to have an good torrent client like Tixati.

But at that point, I would say why not just use a distro customizer to use an existing distro with the apps pre-installed that you want?

Its ok if it is an based of arch.
Because i am aiming for graphical performance.
Because ubuntu does not work graphically on all vid cards.

Well at the moment im trying to find out wich distro got the best compatibility.
    On the graphical sector.
IM doing this so i can find out wich one i need to research in.
i know i could intergrate xf86-video-vesa drivers but that might not do it...

It seems to me that you'd want the following for an Anime-oriented Linux distribution:

    1. Video software (editing/viewing)
    2. Graphics software (editing/viewing)
    3. Anime graphics
    4. Software tailored to viewing anime on one or more online streaming services
    5. Good support for Japanese locales?
    6. What else?
    (4) would make your distribution unique as that kind of software would have to be written. Although. you could start this kind of software project without making a distribution.

    (5) would also be somewhat unique since the majority of the software world deals in Roman alphabet (We ignore the rest of the world). But, you might actually have to patch a lot of existing software to support other languages!

I think you need to consider what this Linux distribution would offer that caters to Anime viewers and then decide from there if it really warrants a Linux distribution.

Java is a object-oriented programming language. It can be used to write applications and applets. There are lots of applications and websites that won't work unless you have Java installed. It is fast, secure, and reliable. In this there are several packages are available, it is some what difficult to learning.

Default Re: [Dev - OS] Anime-OS based on Linux

You reminded me of something. There used to be a Naruto theme (GTK+ and Openbox) for Puppy Linux on DeviantArt- no kidding. Looks like it's down now, though, but I still have a copy of the package, and it was permissively licensed. There seemed to be a sort of community consensus on DA as to what a Puppy Linux OS-tan should look like, too. And it can be "shipped" with VLC and flash, though it tends to have either a Xine or Mplayer backend in the official releases.

Anyway, I'll cloak the rest of my shameless plug for Puppy Linux in spoiler tags, so as not to take up too much more space.

Actually, Puppy is the single most reliable distro at x86 hardware detection and configuration, in my experience, and it's damn easy to install. (There's not any amd64 official releases, but it can be done, too- look up Fatdog64 and LighthousePup. ARM is a work-in-progress.) The default file manager and pinboard (like a desktop, but shortcuts only- no files on the desktop), ROX, takes some getting used to, but there is an XFCE release, too, and LXDE, KDE (3 & 4), and other DEs available. In-built remastering tool, too, so you just change up what you want, click a button, and get a new ISO you can share. For more extensive customization, it has a build system called WOOF that can get one up and running from scratch, and can compile the binaries to be standalone-Puppy (uses a T2 build system) or to be binary-compatible with the likes of Ubuntu, Debian, Slackware, etc. (Compatibility for Arch is in development.)

The drawbacks are that Puppy flagrantly breaks Linux/unix/POSIX conventions all over the place, and stubbornly runs as a single-user system, logging in and starting X as root automatically. So, don't put a public-facing server on top of Puppy, but it's fine for personal systems.

Most helpful people I've ever dealt with on an OS's forums, though. They'd be all-in to assist if you asked for it. Might take a week for them to read it, but they'd probably step right up!

Otherwise, if not Puppy (and GStreamer and PulseAudio are both adventures to get running on Puppy), then at least don't use Ubuntu or Mint as your base distribution. Arch isn't bad, but it's an exciting setup for newbies. I'd go with a Debian base.

Even if only a custom set of defaults and graphics, this could be pretty cool, if done carefully. I hope your last post doesn't mean you've dropped the idea entirely, though a Puppy-based proof-of-concept is something I might try anyway, now that you've worked the idea into my head.

I would come in contact with different anime distributors, example Funimation, Crunchyroll, ect. After that you use the distributors to produce live anime notifications and streams, also have apps specifically for streaming anime and also anime pictures to choose from for Wallpaper and Greeter and if you are going Ubuntu way I would use LightDM because GDM still has a lot of glitches. Another thing is your default browser and your Icons as well. You will need an email client and other video surfaces and I would also try to implement different Japanese games, like JRPGs, VNs, and that such.
