Saw this on Facebook. I cried for a couple minutes and just sat there in shock. Why? Just...why?

It really grind my gears that the culprit(s) that do a horrendous crimes beat us to killing them, instead they would kill themselves.

It's horrible knowing what had happened to those children and the adults who have been massacred.

I've been following this on NBC News and CNN. Supposedly 20 children, 6 adults, and the killer dead. As well as the killer's mother, I've heard two reports. One says she died at the school and the other says she was shoot at a home residence.

My heart goes out to the family and friends of those that have lost someone there. What makes this even worse is that it happened around Christmas time, and now those families have to go home without their loved one and deal with a Christmas without them. It truly is heart-wrenching.

I feel bad for the kids, but I am even more afraid for our 2nd ammendment gun rights. If stuff like this keeps happening, the federal government will probably decide to make ALL GUNS ILLEGAL for civilians to own (be they small .22 pistols, or semi-auto assault rifles, or big honking .50cal BMG shooting sniper rifles that are like mini-cannons, all of which are currently legal in states that you can get gun permits). Only cops and soldiers will be able to legally posses any firearm after the dictatorship rears its ugly head and sweeps away all of our constitutional rights and burns the constitution itself. And sadly incidents like what happened today in that shooting will likely have civilians calling for a dictatiorship, cause they think that harsh government will be the only thing to guarenty their safety (but at the expense of ALL OF OUR RIGHTS). So as sad as I am about those kids dying, I'm 1000 TIMES AS CONCERNED about gun rights (and I don't even own a gun), because I believe the constitution deserves to be upheld as it is our most important law. It is the law of laws. And I fear that this shooter may have committed 1 murder beyond what he intended. He may have MURDERED OUR CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS!!!!!!!

I never understand why a person would kill innocent people. I doubt that those kids had donr anything to the shooter. this stuff just makes me so, so sad. I am so sorry for those poor kids, especially the survivers. They have to go through life with this psychological scar, something that will never heal. I just hope that the community pulls through.

Those kids could have been doctors, firefighters, writers, the very future of our generation! And they're dead! Why would something like this happen? What cruelty possessed that man to go around blatantly shooting people and children without regret!? Just think about all the good those kids could have been to society, how young they were. How many of them had dreams of being anything and then some man whom they had no involvement in the mistakes he was old enough to correct without killing and did it anyway!
Oh my gosh.....this is making me so upset....those kids...their future is gone. The adults who have been killed...I mourn for them as well. But the man who did all of this and killed himself.....I pity him.

We need an "anti passive observer of crime" law. Any person who is aware of online threats and does not dial 911, or in some way contact authorities, then that person is guilty of not reporting the person's threat, and should face long prison sentence.

How many kids have to be shot before the US government decides that maybe ppl shouldn't be allowed to have guns??!! This kind of crime is virtually un-heard of here in Australia. I don't know anyone that owns a gun, in fact I've never even seen a gun. I don't care how ppl justify it, guns are designed to KILL and that's all they will ever do.

Actually, I hate that argument, too. It's like completely trying to toss out of the window the fact that guns are designed specifically to be weapons. Which doesn't make one bit of sense to me.

I don't think that guns should be completely banned... Well, honestly, I do. But in North America we have the Second Amendment, and unlike some others (you know, like a whole political party), I'm not going to omit or misinterpret parts of the Constitutions I don't like. It's just that we should have gun control.

They say that criminals will get guns anyway, but guess what... Some criminals will be stopped if they can't get guns legally. I can't make any claims about what happened here, but it is possible that a situation like this could occur where the guy wouldn't have gotten ahold of guns if he couldn't legally get them. Just one of these cases being avoided by that makes gun control a successful measure. I, for one, value the lives of these children.

Guns are weapons. They are made to harm. There is no getting around this fact.

If there was a law that made it illegal to have guns, the badguys would STILL HAVE THEM, because guess what, BADGUYS DO ILLEGAL THINGS!!!!!!! An ABSOLUTE COMPLETE BAN ON ALL GUNS would only make people MORE IN DANGER THAN EVER BEFORE, because criminals (who would WITHOUT A DOUBT STILL HAVE GUNS) would now be able to shoot any victim they want, and there would be NO LEGAL WAY for a person to defend themself. The person wouldn't "maybe" get shot, the person WOULD GET SHOT, by the cirminal. And all their possesions would be stolen. Crime would skyrocket 1000x compared to what it is today. The blackmarket for guns would be booming. You'd have gangs of VERY DANGEROUS gun traffickers (just like Mexican drug gangs are today, but with guns being the commodity instead of drugs). Soon the criminals would be so empowered, that EVERYBODY would expect to be murdered before dying of old-age. Life expectancy would drop to about 45-years instead of the 80-years that it is now.

You want to know why crime is not EVERYWHERE, and only tends to be strong in "bad neighborhoods"? It's because people who are innocent, and legally have guns, can shoot criminals. Right now criminals are SCARED of their victims, which is why most people in their life NEVER EXPERIENCE A CRIME FIRST-HAND. Only about 1% of people in our society are ever a robbery victim. In a country with an absolute gun-ban, 99% of the people in the country would be robbed AT LEAST ONCE in their life, and at least half of those would be ARMED ROBBERY!

We often don't feel safe with guns being legal especially after a crime like this, but that "lack of safety with guns being legal" is merely AN ILLUSION! If you ban guns, you will TRULY NEVER BE SAFE AGAIN!!!!!

AND DON'T TELL ME TO JUST CALL 911. If someone breaks in to my house and I call 911 and the nearest cop-car is 1 mile away, it will still take ONE WHOLE MINUTE even if the cop car is going 60mph! And that's if I'm LUCKY enough that there's one a mile from me. However even one minute is MORE THAN ENOUGH TIME for a person to SHOOT ME, STEAL MY WALLET, AND ESCAPE. If I had a gun in my hand, and I met the burglar at the door as he kicked it in, with my gun in hand pointed at him before he even had time to draw his gun. He'd THINK TWICE ABOUT PULLING HIS GUN ON ME, and he would probably LEAVE THE HOUSE IMMEDIATELY!

WE NEED GUNS TO BE SAFE! AND ANYONE WHO SAYS OTHERWISE IS A CRIMINAL WHO WANTS TO EMPOWER CRIMINALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
