I hope no one read my mind while I was asleep and posted this way ahead of me . . .
Anyhoo, has anyone ever watched the classic anime Tenchi Muyo?

My Wi-Fi, it's gone out . . .
Actually they're still making Tenchi Muyo series.
Sasamis had a couple.

Anime is a lot like sex. Done right it's a beautiful act of creation that brings a little more light into the world. If it's sick and wrong... it's even better.

Tenchi's a good character. Those girls around him, though. They think he's the best thing since sliced bread.

Its a classic Harem series.
I watched some of the old and a couple of the new ones. The old ones were a lot better, but not that great IMO. The new ones are terrible. I finished them, but I kinda regret doing so. They felt like a good waste of anime time lol. Interesting is pretty much dead on how they are harem animes. At least the old ones gave Tenchi some power and some decent story to go with it. The new ones were just......meh.
Im a sucker for the classics.....Don't hate until you try them......
just about my very first Harem series, actually.
i got myself deep into the series for a good five year span there, beginning with the original OVAs and three films, beginning around the late 90's,
when i began branching out into other Anime genres besides Sci-Fi/Mecha.
kind of burnt myself out of it, after finally picking up a complete collection of TM T.V./UNIVERSE, gave the early/mid-2000's reboot series a spin, and ended up quitting it after the first Volume.
of more personal significance, the old early-2000's TOYNAMI brand 12in. TM character dolls were in fact the initial stimuli behind learning how to tailor doll clothing in 1/6.
the TENCHI dolls provided for a decent training ground to hone my skills sufficiently
for when my passion as an Anime Chara Doll collector was finally able to really take off in the mid/late 2000's.
i've a Harem of lovely Anime Ladies, all in perfect scale in relation to one another, (thanks to the 1/6 OBITSU BODY)
but those fifteen year old Tenchi Muyo! dolls were where it all began for me...

That's funny.

Seems too happy and up beat for me; could be wrong as i have never seen it, but with that in mind i dont think i will ever see it
yeah i thought i could be wrong, i didnt have much info to go on to make my decision about it, only everything mentioned here
IIRC she ultimately wanted much more from him than just that.
IIRC, the T.V. series was about as close as the series ever got to actually developing upon the implied building romance between the two.
frustratingly typical of a good Harem Anime, of course, AIC perpetually refrained from ever getting truly serious with it.
that's exactly what i respect the most about "Ai Yori Aoshi" it is one of those remarkably rare Harem series
in which it's principal couple actually gets romantically serious with eachother. in fact, they don't waste a moment with it,
making things abundantly clear straight out of the gate.
predictably, it was all rather refreshing to me, watching it the first time back in the early 2000's, fresh off of far too many years worth
of immature cat-fighting and Wishy-washy attitudes...

The show was originally based on "I Dream of Jeannie". And let's face it, he belongs with Ryoko.

It was one of the first series I ever watched. I'm still a big fan of it today.
Oh yes I have....Tenchi Muyo Ryo Ohki, Tenchi Universe, Tenchi In Tokyo and now I am currently watching Tenchi Muyo GXP, which does not have all the original Tenchi Muyo characters but it is funny and fun to watch nevertheless.
I also believe that Tenchi should have ended up marrying Ayeka, her personality fits in better with Tenchi, Ryoko is just too wild for Tenchi, but Ayeka is just right for him, yet many Tenchi fans would rather see him with Ryoko, I still like Ayeka the best, she is my favorite character too!
Tenchi in Tokyo... the only good episode was his date with Ryoko and stupid Sakuya ruined it Death to the imaginary wench!

she was my favorite as well, probably because the "Yamato Nadeshiko" types have always appealed to me,
and Ayeka Masaki Jurai was about the closest you got to that in the TM series.
these days, she's been left far behind by much better (IMO) characters, with far kinder (IMO) personalities,
but the senior Princess of Jurai was indeed my first love, and her TOYNAMI character doll was in fact the impetus
behind my personal development of the good old-fashioned hand sewing skills that have served me so very well
in producing the custom clothing i make for my growing harem of character dolls.
Ayeka-San gave me quite a lot, Actually. i guess she really isn't as lousy a person as she may often seem...
Many Years worth of continuous, crude attempts at a Wedding Dress, the very first custom outfit i wanted to make for her.
the first effort was sometime around 2001, the last about 2007 or so. i was going through a Victorian Dress-style fetish at the time,
and much of what i was attempting to make her back then reflected that. i began, modifying/adding to an existing BARBIE dress i found,
then eventually moved on to making one from scratch;
likewise, i struggled for years on figuring out how to make a set of Undies that looked right on her fundamentally flawed TOYNAMI bodysculpt;
and, eventually, i became skilled enough with the plastic modellers' paintbrush to get the courage to attempt improvement
upon TOYNAMI's original, unflattering (IMO) eye design. i felt that it was a 100% improvement, back then, still do to this day;

Older than Dirt, (by Earth reckoning) and in In-Law at that, A.I.C. was being B.O.L.D. at least by nominal Western standards...
I still can't believe they punked out and had him marry everyone like Seina. Rip off!

You know Ryo-ohki never apologized for all of her victims.
