What do you think it is about or what does it mean to you?
Interesting question.
I'd have to say that Getting a Life would mean to do things that are meaningful to yourself. It doesn't necessarily have to be meaningful to the rest of society, but it should be something that gives you a feeling of fulfillment.

My thoughts are the same as Kaleo's. Generally I say "Get a life" to people that are doing something that is meaningless. For example, people who constantly talk about celebrities and other people as if they know them personally. "Justin Bieber is gay," "Miley Cyrus needs a better job," "Blah blah blah." First of all, saying things like that is rude, and people like that are generally ill-mannered. It's also very annoying to read or hear, especially when it has nothing to do with the topic at hand at all.
If I'm watching Spongebob, do you think I care about "LADY GAGA IS A HE/SHE AND IS THE UGLIEST PERSON IN THE WORLD OMG OMG OMG?" No. I just want to sit in peace and enjoy Spongebob's annoying laugh. I'd rather hear that than a bunch of negative non-sense. Now, class, what does "Get a life" mean? It means go do something useful with yourself instead of what you're doing now.
But your definition of "useful", may vary from someone else's. And someone could tell you to "get a life", while watching Sponge Bob...though his views on political matters is hilarious.Originally Posted by PinkGalaxies:2712175
To be social for me and I think I am like once you meet me I don't think you'll forget I think talk and being out there is "having a life"

I've found that the phrase is generally used as an argument against arguments. You know: "You wouldn't be arguing with me if you had a life/ You're only debating this because you don't have a life." It's kind of the stupid man's strawman.
The actual meaning of 'get a life' is based entirely on the context of the conversation.

There's always Josie & the Pussy Cats...oh so hot!! And you can always tell someone to get a life while watching Sponge Bob.Originally Posted by PinkGalaxies:2712621
Since always. I've never understood the whole "troll" thing. It's just rude people trying to make an excuse to be rude or mean. You wouldn't go up to a random person on the street and go "You need to lay off on the McDonalds, Mcfatfat." People lack respect when it comes to the internet, and then it goes to their brain. Just because you're behind a computer screen doesn't mean you're exempt from acting like a normal human being.
I don't have Boomerang. I pay over $100 for DirecTV, but they never play anything. Only 1 or 2 channels will be showing something, and it's normally something I've already watched.

Actually, I have. I'm not afraid of pointing out someones flaws in person. And extreme obesity is something i hate more than just about anything. Have i gotten my a$$ kicked because of how blunt i am, lol yea. will i stop? oh hell no. People with problems won't change them till someone points them out. and surprisingly, words from a complete stranger tend to hit home much harder than words from the people you know.

You don't know Kaleholio...that well. And I pay $60 for Direct TV (referred 4 friends) and get Boomerang.Originally Posted by PinkGalaxies:27126
It may seem okay to do because you think it's just one person doing it. What if more people start saying the same thing that you did or worse to that stranger? Do you still feel like it was a mission accomplished? Some things are better left unsaid. If a person is fat, they know it. They have a mirror just like everyone else and get reminded by it. Most obese people don't know how to diet properly or exercise properly.
Instead of giving someone an insult, why not say something useful? For example, if someone is in need of deodorant, tell them they need to put some on because it's hot outside or something. Also, if someone doesn't stink or isn't doing anything to you, why even bother saying something about them? "OMG Justin Bieber has flippy hair! Let me go tell him that it's ugly and he's ugly and he should go die!" I get so tired of reading and hearing stuff like that. If his hair bothers you so much, stop staring. That's like someone wearing skinny jeans, and you going "EWW those things are hideous. Go put on some real jeans." It just makes no sense.
I don't know many people on here. I've only been here a few days after all. I've been a customer for years, and they keep upping the prices and taking away channels.

Having a life to me is just being happy and living each day the way you want to live it ^_^

"Frustrations will not last forever. Nobody can keep on going without some measure of reward."
Knowing something and accepting something are world apart.
Most obese people spend their time inside. usually their homes have internet. its not hard to look up. And the also eat a lot of McDonalds. Pretty much all of them have internet too.
They know damn well what to do. Their just too lazy to go out and do it. I have never said anything to any fat guy i've seen at the gym. If i see someone doing something about it, i have respect for them. But ordering 4 burgers at McD's? You can bet that i'll be heard.
tell someone to put deodorant on because it hot outside? You're way too soft. I'll tell them that they smell like s**t and they can either put some on of find someone else's car to ride in.

I don't really get why you'd say something though. If nobody bought anything, stores would be out of business and people would be out of jobs.
Some really don't know what to do about it. I'm only a few pounds over what I want to be because my thyroids are off. It's hard losing weight with that kind of issue, and I only want to lose 5 lbs. I couldn't imagine trying to lose 100. Who knows, the person ordering 4 burgers could be splurging on a diet they've been on. If you don't know a person, you can't really put judgement on them.
Lol. I did that deliberately to see what you'd say. :P
Lol i figured that last part seemed kinda weird.
Anything is possible, you just need the willpower to do it. Many people can do this on their own. But for the most part, the desire to change comes out of the misery of what it is you want to change.
I used to be a dumb stoner who was content installing car audio. I'ma make the long story short. I was walking around with some friends, stoned as hell of course. We came to this gas station and there was a Ferrari parked outside. We were looking this thing all over and then the owner came walking out.
He took one look at us and immediately said "you f'king stoners get away from my god damn car. You wanna look at one, get your useless lives together and earn one!" and with screeching tires he left.
That was the last i i ever smoked weed.
The idea that people viewed me like that had never really clicked with me until that point. So i try to extend that same tough love to others, hoping that they'll come to the same conclusion. If they just go home and cry about it, f'k 'em. They can stay there and keep crying about it for all i care.
But thats just going from my personal experience.

Its about pushing the limits and crossing borders.... Legally.
Everyone is different. I haven't really had an experience like that. I just get people who call me ugly, I belong on National Geographic, and stuff. You can't really help what you were born with unless you get plastic surgery, and I'm not about to go do something crazy like that. I don't think I'm ugly at all. I've got high self-esteem, so I just let them talk.
for me getting a life means to enjoy what you do for a living and to be happy with friends or family.
