Recommendations Perhaps?

Hello All! I've been on an Anime binge lately and I am currently looking for some amazing Anime to watch. I Prefer a season or two to be out. As a lot of others, I enjoy Ecchi, but prefer a good storyline overall. I don't mind gore either like Elfen Leid or Gantz. I also prefer action/fantasy based with supernatural powers and such. I extremely dislike Mech Anime and I prefer a more adult humor and not an anime that focuses more on a younger age group. So, if anyone has any recommendations, I would love to hear them.

I have a list of what I've watched so far. It's not everything, but a vast majority of what I have seen and you might be able to get an idea of what I enjoy.

Thank you, I've watched some of Fairy Tale, just haven't really sat down to it yet. I didn't really like Clannad to much, it took me awhile to finish it so I'd probably wouldn't enjoy the after story.

I'll give some of the other ones a look up though, I appreciate it.

According to a lot of people I know After Story is a whole lot better
Only the first 10 or so episodes are comedy afterwards it turns into more of a drama

Anyways, tell him AS is mostly the complete opposit of clannad. While Clannad may be a comedy, AS (whcih mostly start after episode 10) is focused primarily on character drama, and pulls it off splendidly.
There's comedy, yes, but it's mostly a realistic look at how punishing life can be, the struggle of one man against insurmountable acts of fate
furthermore, it's a catalyst to changing certain viewpoints on life and may even prompt the viewer to re-examine his/her own life in retrospect
it's a very moving, heart wreaking, rather somber anime yet ultimately very uplifting

just letting you know I still have not gotten around to watching it myself still watching clannad atm

Meh, let me rephrase. I don't really enjoy that type of anime. Not that some parts of it is not humorous, just I dislike the whole, everyday life of this guy with some girls and drama breaks out. Main reason why it took me so long to finish it since I was so bored with the anime. If there was another aspect to it, such as R+V (hence the whole monster/battle) scenario or just something to mix in that brings the ordinary life to be not so ordinary, I could be a bit more lenient on it. Even though I didn't like R+V storyline to much, the characters made it better to watch.

Sorry if I come out a little strong on this post.

Have you watched Hellsing Ultimate? I think it's way better than the original anime.
Ichiban Ushiro no Daimaou - A fantasy where the main character is prophesied to be the next demon lord. Pretty funny and has some ecchi. I also like the main character quite a bit as he becomes quite awesome even though his dream is shattered and people want to assassinate him.
To Aru Majutsu no Index - Has magicians and espers. The main character has the power to negate any kind of supernatural phenomenon including God's blessings giving him lots of misfortune.
Kara no Kyoukai - The six Kara no Kyoukai movies have the best animation and fights I've seen in an anime. It's composed of supernatural mysteries which then come together to complement the main story arc. The main character is a girl who has the ability to see and touch the mortality of living things. Give a try to at least the first 3 movies as they get way better after number 2. It is a bit violent though.
Dance in the Vampire Bund - Not too sure if you would like this but I try to always include an anime by Akiyuki Shinbo in recommendations. Follows the leader of the vampires and her bodyguard. I didn't like the first episode but the rest are very good.
Phantom ~Requiem for the Phantom~ - The main character is a Japanese tourist who wakes up with amnesia and through the order of things eventually becomes an assassin. It really picks up the pace around halfway. Based on a visual novel so try that out too if you want to see the different endings and how the story is affected by each different choice

I actually did watch some of Hellsing Ultimate and I enjoyed it more since it was more... realistic I'd say with the way they handle some situations. To Aru Majutsu no Index sounds like the whole Haruhi series.

I'll give some of the other ones a look over though, I appreciate your input.

Just got done watching both seasons of R+V and boy, once more those little japs have really done a good job on this one. I got a kick out of the HP Lovecraft references in some of the episodes. Oh ya, lots of panty shots and large breasted chicks but all in all, a very cool anime. I personally recommend it. I also think my fav charater has to be the Ice chick, she is very cool. Pun intended lol.

Yeah, I already watched both seasons. Fairly entertaining, but I extremely dislike the storyline to it. I heard the manga was way better. Just a bummer since it had a lot of potential, I mean the whole random fight scenes and the sudden removal of her necklace in every episode like it was nothing. Also, the story didn't extend to anything else besides that.

As screwby recommended, watch Ichiban Ushiro no Daimaou. I am currently watching it and love this. It has decent ecchi (Sadly a lot of the good panty shots are blocked out, but they make it rather humorous with the quotes they use) and it has a great storyline. Only down side is it is only 12 episodes and they could have easily made this into 26 episodes, so the story is pretty rushed.
