Noob question...

This might be awful, but; how does one go about making a signature, exactly?
If I scan in my own pictures or get my own screencaps, it might be easier, but what about if I wanted to use a picture I found on the internet?
And would the same process for making signatures be applicable to making avatars?

I haven't been the most tech savvy person, but I'm trying to learn now. My avatar I have now was a bit of a fluke, but I'd like to know the way to make one.

Once you grab the basics of the program yourself, learn the basics of signature making. There are tutorials that even I use from time to time:

And keep practicing, with each new piece you improve in some category. And good luck!

Free photoshop? I think you can just use the trial because the program itself is real expensive if you are short on money. I have CS to CS5. I get them on my birthday or special occasions. Anyway, just being good with photoshop you basically need to be inspired to begin with and see other's tutorials and don't follow them completely. I say this so you have a learning experience on your own.

You can use the trial version of photoshop.. It isn't free unless you illegally download it.. I got a small discount on upgrading to CS5 for owning a previous version of photoshop. It was still $400+ But since I use it a LOT the price was worth it.

However! There is a program called GIMP that is free, one of AF's best GFX'er uses it! Here is her works.http://www.animeforum.com/showthread...light=zenister

Yeah it's not ment to follow, just show the process :3 But good luck! And talk to @Observer once you get comfortable to see if she'll start up the BSOTW soon. (beginner signature of the week) It got discontinued temporarily due to lack of entries! We'd love it if you started making things to enter.

There are also plenty of free image editing software out there available to download. I mostly use Gimp. But theres also PaintNET, Sumo paint, OpenCanvas...
