If this forum sticks around it needs a custom icon on the home page. So what character/icon should be used here? Give me some good ideas, I'll make mock-ups [or you can make them, I won't complain ^_^] and we'll run a poll to decide which one gets the job.

What are some fairly iconic western cartoons that appeal to a slightly order audience? Avatar? Adventure Time? Family Guy? The Simpsons? Batman the Animated Series? Spongebob?

Also, consider this a negative vote against anything MLP related.

Well It's about western animation....Like Xero said, What's the most infamous icon to be associated with Western Animation? Looney Tunes, Transformers, Spongebob, Ren & Stimpy, Invader Zim, Superman, Batman, Charlie Brown, Ben 10, Family Guy?
What about Clay-mation stuff?

Let's not forget about European Animation as well.

As for actual old, easily recognisiable and memorable American animations ... being British, everything is 5 years behind so my opinion may well be moot >_> I'll have to think of something, because derp.

Honestly I am more leaning towards Looney Tunes Bugs Bunny/Daffy/Tom & Jerry or maybe even something from Who Framed Roger Rabbit. My problem with say Batman or Superman is that they aren't primarily cartoons, the live action shows are at least as well known and came first in many cases. Transformers is partly (or actually in some cases) anime, so wouldn't stand out as much. Zim or Spongebob are good options as well. I'd skip over Adventure Time and MLP both because they are too new, and over Avatar because it wants to be anime a bit too much, so it can't have nice things. Charlie Brown makes me think of newspaper comics more then cartoons, and I'd shy away from Simpsons/Futurama or Family Guy, they'd feel way too specific.

These comments shouldn't be taken to mean I dislike any of the shows mentioned, I've actually enjoyed most of them, and will again, just thinking more about what would best represent this section

I'd suggest something from the early years of American Animation, Mickey Mouse from Steamboat Willie, or something from My Old Kentucky Home, even Felix the Cat.
Stuff from the Mid 1920's that pretty much started/inspired tons of animation throughout the world.

That's really the only old western animated cartoon that comes to mind that I haven't seen already mentioned. I say "haven't seen" but I may well have missed it in my little skimming of this thread o_o; or I'm just being paranoid.
