.....that game show hosts ask the contestant all bout themselves and make jokes with them? They're supposed to be GAME SHOW HOSTS, not comdeians. I would NEVER allow a game show host to know bout my private life. It's like asking me my bra size.
Also if any game show host made any kind of joke, I'd rebuke, saying, "Get serious--you're a game show host, not a comic!!""

That's why it's called a game show..... everything is just a game..... ( so just be a good sport ).... and if the host will just ask serious questions then it no longer a game show but a quiz show.... that it will be...

They are making an attempt to keep people interested by using humor. Gme shows are not usually suposed to be serious hence the name GAMEshow. But in the case where the game show itself is serious then there would be no joking around etc. Depnds on what what type of gameshow it is.

but... just don't sign up/watch a game show... GASP! By golly didn't see that one commin' Best solution to allllll your problems.

I find them funny and I watch game shows for the LULZ.. And game show host are supposed to crack lame jokes and be silly. Otherwise it's boring.....

P.S. Personal information is like your full name, current address, phone number, SSN, etc. etc. Not "bob" on your name tag from CA.

I'd scowl at any host for that with a look that could peel paint. Humour only detracts from the game.

You watch the Price is Right, or something? From what I remember when I actually watched tv, Drew Carey made fun of everything lol. Bob kept it interesting, but you can tell the guy was getting tired and irritated of people, despite loving his job.

Generally, game show hosts don't ask random questions or make random comments about a person. Its usually based on information given to them beforehand by the contestants themselves. "Where are you from Bob?" This is a question that the host probably knows already (Bob had to give that information when he signed up), but is asking for the sake of the audience or to make a joke about it. "It says here that you caused an accident by doing something silly. What was that 'something'?" In that case, the contestant already gave the information about the incident and the host was leading into it.

Of course, like blueangel06661 said, this can be avoided entirely by not signing up for the show at all.

Nice excuse, but I honestly don't see too much of a difference. I mean, I guess there's a difference between whether or not the person asking is a pervert or if it just happens to be a question that they are asking (of course, you can't tell either way on the Internet). However, you weren't talking about the overall character of the game show host; you were just talking about the how messed up simply asking the question would be, a question you answered rather easily.

The intro about the contestants is supposed to give some sort of motivation about why they're playing. Jokes are to liven up the details. But don't like gameshows.
