Good question! My inspiration is all based on the image. If I see an image I like, I use it regardless of seeing the anime.

Generally (and there are a few rare exceptions) I only do wallpapers for series that I've seen and of those only for series that I really like. Lately though I've considered doing requests when I've gotten stuck looking for images for series that I like.

I think understanding the series is very important in making the wallpaper effective. I've had many people tell me that my end of evangelion wallpaper I did a while back really gave them the same feeling that the movie did. I feel so good when someone tells me that, like I really did the wallpaper right.

crap, clicked the wrong button, man i need sleep. yeah i used to only do walls from series that i've seen so i could try to make walls that seemed to fit personality more than apperance, but recently i've been doing walls mostly with random pictures that i don't know the origins of so i base the wall on their appearence.
either way works for me really.

generally I need to know the series because I want to make a wall that fits the atmosphere of the anime, but I think that my best walls are the ones inspired by an image that I have(and I have basically image that I know the series ), I work basically starting by the image and its colours atmosphere etc etc..but I usually use anime I know..I think it's better. Except the last one I made, the spring one ^_^

Generally, I try to use images from anime that I've seen. Sometimes though, an image will come to me and will be too damn cute to pass up. So... I make a wallpaper out of it.

Generally yes for me because it's soo hard to find good scans of the anime that I have seen or the anime is too popular and there are tons out there already previously..but I do like to watch, then make..cause then I can make a theme suited to the wallpaper better than not knowing..but usually I do some research just to get the feel of what the anime is about if I haven't seen it yet. But yet sometimes a cute picture is too good to pass up lol

I normally only do walls for things i've seen...it kinda helps when you want to setup a bg for a scan or gives me an idea of what would look cool with the wall =)

Hmm... Pretty much all of my walls are of anime that I have never seen before, I just find images I like and make a wall :^_^:

Hm, if I find some good images that I realy like (actually it dosn't matter from which series they are) I try to use them in wp.

Sometimes I watch the anime after making a wp.

I generally do ones I have seen or read because I have better design ideas. Plus, I know what I can and cannot get away with. (Example: I can't get away with a pink Hellsing wallpaper. I could do it, but not a lot of people would like it.)
