[Help - Phone] Droid Incredible

Okay, recently I had to stop service with Verizon due to money issues. I was still using my phone just fine off WiFi and what not. But lately the phone was giving me some issues and I did a factory reset without even thinking.

Well now I can not set my phone up without having "Service" with Verizon; which I find kinda dumb. Is there anyway to bypass the number activation? Otherwise, my phone is pile of junk I paid a good penny for.

I think if you can get the photo rooted (unlocked) that you shouldn't have an issue and it'll work fine again. That's what I've heard but I've never had an HTC.
