I live in florida. Costal area to be exact. Lived here for nearly 20 years. It was what? Barely a category 3.....
What do most people tell you when you ask them about hurricanes? "Oh... I just stay at home" Unless it's like a cat. 5 and is directly coming at you.. Then you might go to your great aunts house across town because it's a sturdier place.
Seriously cat. 3's or 2's are just like bad tropical storms. You get those all the time here.

And thus, a thread about a hurricane has been quickly turned into a discussion about age and rounding. >.>
I've got only one thing to say: Hurricane Irene was nothing fearsome. I like how all the water, bread, and flashlights were sold out in stores the previous day, and today I woke up and went, "What? That's IT?" Yea, Irene's already moved away from my place and heading northward.
That's not what this was supposed to be about anyways.... how do i flag this for deletion?
Please get back on topic.
Hey look, Japan made a movie about me!
I think it died when it reached new york. I never seen a hurricane or tropical storm,it sounds really scary. We mostly get the tornadoes.
Is it over now?

Yeah, in merely a week, we the Washingtonians have become the laughing stock of the country. First, our handling (or lack of handling) of the weak 5.8 mag earthquake made the frequently earthquake-struck West Coasters snicker for days, and now our overpreparing for and overhyping of hurricane Irene made even ourselves wonder what the heck we were thinking when we frantically emptied every grocery store in the area just for one rainy and windy night. (Seriously, I could hardly tell it was a hurricane if I hadn't been warned for days about it.)
Nothing happened here. It just rained hard and was really windy. Plus, it was a very boring day. I do feel bad for those that lost their lives because of Irene though.
Oh, Hi-deeki, imagine... your kind not eating raw fish! ^_^

People actually died from Irene? The heck?!???? It wasn't even that bad.
Lol we can have a bad hurricane blow through Fla. and the only people that seem to die are the idiots who think they can just go surfing during it.
things get flooded and a few power lines/street signs are toppled. and that tree branch is gone so far you'll never see it again but still. People manage to stay alive.. Unless it's one of those that shreds houses. Irene was not one of those.

We got bunches of rain and the power went out from 5-8 PM EST i think, plus trees down on power lines
We didn't even lose power here in New York, and it was less rainy and windy than I usually see.
Lolhurricanes.
Sounds like it wasn't that bad in the end then
From what I've read in the news so far, people died not directly from the hurricane, but rather from trivial reasons. One woman in my state died because her chimney collapsed on her or something when a tree fell onto her chimney. And I think a girl in Virginia died in a traffic accident indirectly caused by Irene. All these could have been forestalled if correct countermeasures had been taken.
Hurricane Irene? In Massachusetts we just called it a tropical storm because we didn't get it so bad, just pretty windy and some branches broke, though luckily no harm done to me or anyone close to me! I've been hearing there were 10+ deaths though, or was it 100+ deaths? Either way I feel sad for the families who lost their loved ones.

I say its bad only because from what I think, and I guess I could be wrong, is that the houses up there aren't built to stand hurricanes whereas the houses that are prone to have those kind of storms are able to withstand it. What matters is that people needs to follow safety procedures no matter what location you're in. Doesn't matter also what category, a hurricane is a hurricane and it does damage. ;P
You know I saw the Connecticut river today and I have NEVER seen it soo high before in my life! And it was very dirty looking. Its was just rain and strong winds where I live though!
Well really, to my understanding, the first prediction was that it's real strong. And then it weakened even before it got to NY.
