Indeed a very good one.
Claymore has a very original story with interesting characters in a pretty dark and unforgiving world.
I watched this one all the way to it's end in only 2 or 3 days I just couldn’t stop watching it.

I've been debating with myself whether or not to watch this series. this topic makes me want to though because both of you say it was great. what exactly is it about?

humans annoy me, imperfect creatures are so bothersome.
Basically it's about these creatures called "Claymores", they are half human and half Yoma (demon monster thing), it follows the story of Claire and Raki, Claire being a Claymore has the duty of fighting and slaying Yoma, she eventually saves Raki from one and that's how the story begins, there is also a few flashbacks in the beginning about Teresa who was another Claymore. I can't really say much more because I haven't finished it but I would definitely recommend you watching it. I barely started and it's so fantastic. O_O

Been keeping up with the manga and I've been enjoying it pretty well with the exception of two things:
- The characters are all very, very similar in appearance (obviously) so I find myself rereading chapters and double checking the dialog to keep up with who's who sometimes.
- I read a few monthly manga and it's still really tricky to keep myself emotionally invested in the characters when the updates are so infrequent, but meh.
Otherwise a very entertaining read. Anime was decent with that standard half assed ending most adaptations do.

Watched the anime, thinking about starting on the manga, anyone recommend it?
its a GREAT anime imo.
one of the best i have seen recently. (own the blu-ray of it)
Claymore what to say what to say. . .
I have to say, of all the animes to date, this series has drawn me in like a freshly used blade being driven into its sheath after use. The series story gets bigger and bigger as it progresses and you meet many characters along the way and learn a portion of their lives. It's definately worth watching, has alot of action. Although talking and explanations due hinder that from time to time. Does have it's corny moments as well but makes up for it in the end. I'm saddened to know the last three episodes of the anime differ from the original manga and i would suggest reading the manga as it gets even better from there.

great show Iv got the manga ready to read if I can get the time, I really liked the anime but I couldnt handle the series ending so I had to go find the manga so I can see what happens past that point lol Teresa is awesome would have been cool if she had lived, oh at the end of the anime when he was journeying with the king of the north and brasilia I though they were going to make him a male claymore or somehow change him into a yoma which I think would have been sweet
just watched first episode... have to make sure one thing
that male character is useless gay ?
Hi ya-
Watched the whole series and it very good. Anybody know if there will be a season 2?
Scott
Hey Scott, following you from my cosplay thread. Ive decided to reply to your question here. There has been talks and petitions started of making another season. The reason why the anime and the manga split off from the Northern War is because Yagi wasent that far along in the manga to keep the series going. So the talks have been going like this... They want to redo the ending of the last episode, then continue on with a second season.
I really, no REALLY hope they do make a season 2. But I've browsed through a lot Claymore threads on various forums just passing the time here on nightshifts at work and there is lots of talk about this. Seems the consensus is not likely. It would be great if they did but realize its been several years now since season 1 was made, most of the fans have lost interest by now, and the ending is different so they would pretty much have to re-do the last few episodes from season 1 or else it wouldn’t really be able to follow the manga. Both those issues make it highly unlikely, though not impossible. I guess what concerns me most is they haven’t released anything saying they are even interested in making another season (or if they have and I missed it let me know!). There should be enough material now or soon, as the Anime was based on the first 11 books, and there are what, 20 out now?
I haven’t read the rest though; I'm only up to the point that it ends differently, which is book #11. I was going to just start reading from 11 to 'continue on' but after I read #11 I decided I wanted to start over and read them all. I like collecting the books anyhow.
Hoping for that second season...

What I don't get is if they had any intentions of making a season 2 and continuing on following the manga why they would not simply left it 'to be continued'. And if they didn't plan on continuing on why they make a better ending and close it. It just seems like they went in the middle, made up an ending that kind of closed the season but still left a lot unanswered and a lot of 'we'll meet again' scenarios left open. IMHO they should of just ended it following the manga as close as possible and left it to be continued. If anything it would have got more people into reading the manga to continue on I think. But don't let that discourage anyone from wanting to watch the series, if you like the dark fantasy type I think its great right up to the last couple episodes, and the last couple aren’t necessarily that bad, just not what they should be. And you can always then follow along with the manga to continue.
I haven’t seen a lot of anime, so I'll ask you all, has there ever been any series that ended differently like Claymore did and they went back and re-made an ending? Or made another season after a several year gap? Just curious, if this has happened before it might mean there is some chance of it happening but I'm not getting my hopes up (ahh who am I kidding my hopes are up regardless).
I think what caused all of the above issues was the slow pace at which the material was released. The first season was what, 6 years worth of manga (plus two more episodes not based on the manga)? At the rate its being released there is no way around 6+ years per 'season'. It’s really a shame too; I think they could have done a lot more character development along the way if there was more material put out. So many come and go, some so fast, and we dont get to learn much about them. It is my absolute fav anime so far, but I really think it had the potential to be much more. But the fast-paced nature of it does seem to suit it well.

I highly recommend that you continue reading on. It keeps getting better and more better after the Northern War. Ive been subscribed to an online site that translates the latest chapters each month, an I tell you only getting little bits each month KILLS me. I cannot get enough of it.
I honestley dont know of really any where the series ended differently and they went back to remake it. I know the creator from Neon Genesis was going threw some dark times when he was originally putting out the series, so it went hay wire and confusing by the end of the series. I know now that things have settled down for him and he has re-written the series and re-released it with the story by how he originally wanted it to be. I also cant tell you how many animes and manga differ from each other. There is ALOT, so counting them would be useless. LOL
ive never seen it myself but i heard it was great i havent had a chance to see it though and i want to
alone...lost my kamiki...alone forever...i hate love..
It's torture isnt it eh? You know you like it LOL!
Not to worry about the manga I will of course continue reading on but in due time... since I started reading the manga and liked #11 I decided to start over from #1 to make sure I don't miss anything. I can't wait until I get into the new stuff (what was that about torture?) but I am determined to read them in order and will get to the new stuff eventually.
For those that haven't seen it; just an FYI it is available for free on Netflix if you have that. Alternatively, I do recommend the Blu-ray version, as it comes with a booklet with some character drawings with background info, cast interviews and things like that. Its nice if you like to collect memorabilia. I actually saw most the episodes on Netflix but wanted to have the hardcopies anyhow and the booklet so I bought the DVD. It did not come with the booklet so I sent it back and got the Blu-ray.
I don't want to talk it up to much though; there are a lot of folks that didn't like it for various reasons. But I do recommend giving it a try, and you need to watch the first few to get into it, the first few episodes are kind of an introductory and then the 'Teresa Arc' (Ep 5-8) really set the stage. I was hooked after #3 but many say it took the Teresa arc to seal the deal. Miss Strawberry, did you start with the manga or the anime? And when do you think you were hooked? Inquiring minds want to know ;-)

Tristan... LOL I feel like Im getting interviewed. lmao. Anyway I started with the anime. Once the series finished up, my friend (who recommended it to me in the first place) told me the story was continued on with the manga, and that it ended better. So afterwards, I read the manga because I was just not satisfied with the anime in itself. I considered myself hooked by episode 3.

@Rose-Lawliet
Yeeks BIG spoiler alert!
How does one make those 'show spoiler' buttons anyhow???
@Xey The Oiz
Ha didnt even realize you were the one that originally started this thread, cool.

@Rose-Lawliet
Haha! No problem, it just hurt my eyes to see that there out in the open. Oh the pain! LOL.
I still dont know how to do that button thing. The forum automatically converts whatever your writing so I cant see the actual code. I dont know if putting code tags around it will prevent the forum software from doing that, or you could purposely misspell it. I'm on probably a dozen other forums actively, never saw that spoiler button only on anime forums. Its pretty cool feature though.
Carry on.
Edit: Wait, I guess if I quote you I can see the code.
Edit2: Sweet!
Back on the topic of Claymore though, since I figured out how to do that (dont read unless you have already seen the ending of the anime:
