Jack of all trades or master or one

There is a video game named 'Life' and you may only pick one of the two class; Jack or all trades, or Master of one or two? Which do you think will most benefit your ideals and beliefs?

First of all, I think being a jack of all trades is very nice ^^ and I think would be best in those question and answer shows that allows you to win a million dollars or so.
But I would rather be a Master of one or two. It is good to go deep into one thing, and fully understand and master a couple rather than getting a little bit of so many things.
To relate this into real life, I would master lets say automotive. If I have completed that, maybe I would start on mastering tailoring. According to my brother, a master of one or two leads to more success. [But of course, I am open minded, therefore, I believe there can also be some benefits of being a jack of all trades ^^]

Yeah, I'm Master of All Trades already, and am currently waiting for someone to hire me as President or CEO of a multi-national company.

Still waiting up to this day.

I would say that to Master Automotive you have to be a jack of all trades. I studied auto and you have to be a master of electrical, plumbing, engineering, airodynamics, hydralics, software, mechanical and on and on and on. But I can see both your points. I'm a jack of all trades but somedays I think it would be easier just to know one thing but then I wouldn't be as open mined and useful as I am today ^_^

When I was a kid, I thought I was just a nerd guy who's a little good in singing and dancing besides studies, but as I grew up I discovered that I was capable of more and I found out that I am actually gifted. I thought at first that it was nice to have a lot of talents but the problem is, I can't settle myself. Being called a 'Jack of all trades' is nice but for me, being a master of one (or two) is the best, because in reality, we only have limited time in this world that trying to prove yourself great in many things would be a waste of time, compared to focusing in one or two.

Master of One. To master music of course >=3 But then again there's performance, composition, arranging, aural training, sight reading, transposition, conducting, teaching, theory, history etc. o.o;

Yes your right. But Automotive is one thing, and knowing everything like electrical, suspension, hydraulics, is mastering one. But I agree, it is something like being a jack of all trades. But what I really meant was for example, medical and engineering .. those are 2 things, and mastering one, of them, rather than knowing a section of both [for example cardio and electrical] is somehow like the jack of all trades.
But I suppose it just depends on what the person's interpretation of 'mastering one thing' is.

I used to be on the jack of all trades side, until my brother made me realize something, and while watching my school in "School Duel", my school lost against a normal high school. Why? Because our school is after all a medical and engineering magnet. They focus on the studies of their college course to be. These 4 are the top students of each magnet program as you can guess, but they did not know most of the questions except for the ones that relate to medical or engineering. Not something about the queens and kings of the world, or horses. lol
