Are magazines considered books?

I was just wondering because I need to fulfill this requirement that I must have 100 pieces of a collection and one of which are books. I don't have that many books but I do have a hundred or so magazines.

Anyways, are they considered so?

I know which kind of books you're talking about. But magazines are usually just little bits of different information with ads on just about every other page which I don't believe counts as a book.

Unless you know of books with adverts in the middle and are released bi-weekly or bi-monthly then no they don't count.

Magazines provide various of information besides "gossip". They provide in some tips of any kind, articles written from people, etc. Another thing is, like a newspaper, magazines is also used for daily/monthly publishing, advertisement, and containing various of articles as well. They both serve the same concept as reading them, but there are at times that magazines can be resourceful. Books contain many genres in stores, fiction and non-fiction. In this case, magazines contain maybe... what I think is about 85% non-fiction written entries.

Books are written by an author with a certain genre of any kind. A magazine usually contain advertisement, journal entries, and published monthly. <-- I hope that'll work.

Magazines are a bit more random then 4 panel comic strips.
They only have a page or two of a topic before they change so I'm not sure if it qualifies as a book.
The same way I alway think if a manga counts as a book or mainly a picture book because it doesn't describe, it just has characters talking.

Why would they? If they were, then we wouldn't need two different words to differentiate between the two.
