What if life wasn't real? What if life is just a dream that we all live in. There are good parts and bad parts. We might all not even really exist, instead, where just a dream. People and buildings mya seem real, but there all a figment of imaganation. Maybe, where just dolls from a kid. That kid controlls us and creates our lives. I know this may seem stupid, but i just was wondering if this may be true, but we don't even know it at all. We, life, and everything in this world might not be at all. Where in another type of place, indescribable. What are your thoughts on this.

That assumption is based on the idea that what you see around you actually exists.

Ok, lets assume we are all puppets being controlled and nothing is real. How does that change anything?

doesn't it change a lot? If we arent really real, then your whole puspective on life is changed. We arent real, but we think we are. Where controlled by someone. Never really have free actions or free life. Controlled life. Controlled thoughts. Nothing is real. Its all fake.

But how would you know? Assuming you are controlled then why would your controller allow you to find out? And then what would you do? Fight the system? But that means the controller wants that. Maybe you give up on life, but that means the controller wants that too. I don't see how any of this makes a difference as you'll just do what your controller wants you to do.

Exactly. You wouldn't know. The controller would always win. even if that controller has to cheat. So wouldn't it be scary? To be afraid to make any move knowing that if we are being controlled it could affect eveyrthing else. The controller would know we would make that move and could wipe us out? it would be ridcoulsly scary

Well, that's more of Phenomenological reality, which is what one perceives to be true, and actual reality, which is what things are as they actually exist.

So basically, you ARE the controller, just in another form. like in a virtual reality video game, but just aren't aware of it.

But it is diffrent. When everythign isnt controlled we are able to be free. We are able to make our own descsions. When we are cntrolled. We are not able to make our own descisions.

Well, try to look at it the way I described in my last post.

rather than an external source manipulating the avatar, think of it instead as a parallel existence, since if in every way, shape and form you are controlled, then you are in all ways indistinguishable from the person controlling you, and therefore, it suffices to say the two are the same.

A character in a video game IS you, because you control everything they do.

Edit: also, there are many things I can not do, but that doesn't mean I'm being forced to do them.

can I at will escape the force of gravity when I'm falling, or.. shift my dimensional plane to the fifth dimension by thought alone?

Does that mean that I'm being -forced- to stay held to the earth by gravity, or exist in 3 dimensions? not necessarily, they are just the limitations of the physical world.

Even if we are to call this world, or life itself as we know it, an illusion or even a 'dream', is it really something to waver over? There's no difference between a dream and reality to the one experiencing it. So long as we're here, you might as well get out there to enjoy yourself as best you can.

Let's assume for a moment that there is 'something' or 'someone' out there controlling and/or manipulating this world we live in. From a practical standpoint, so far as it might go anyway, I would think it something akin to a higher dimensional being or consciousness that we meager third dimensional beings cannot come into contact with or even know for a certainty that it exists. Certainly coming to question the very existence of such a thing; at this point may as well be saying that it doesn't exist at all. However, even if we were certain that it did, to what end does that bring us?

To me, if nothing else, I can't say as such a thing would change anything. It's just one of those things you happened upon; and for better or worse, it's simply the way it is. But that certainly doesn't mean we can't still live these lives of ours up to their fullest, does it? Though attempting contact with a higher dimensional being, a god-like being I suppose one could say, does sound pretty awesome. ^^

Why should I? If I somehow find out that something is controlling me, I'll just continue to let them do so.

Trying to describe reality WITHOUT knowing if there is a controller is hard enough. Even if I were to realize it, it would not change the reality of the controller's existence nor the effect it has on me and my perception of reality. Thus, I will continue as if that realization had never come to pass.

I doubt life being nothing but a virtual reality game wouldn't change much. Sure, I'd have doubts about the actions I take or the options I choose but I already do so...

What really freaks me out is that my romantic life is probably nothing more than a visual novel to this higher being playing 'Jose'.
