Singer Whitney Houston dies at 48

(AP) LOS ANGELES - Whitney Houston, who ruled as pop music's queen until her majestic voice and regal image were ravaged by drug use, erratic behavior and a tumultuous marriage to singer Bobby Brown, has died. She was 48.
Houston's publicist, Kristen Foster, said Saturday that the singer had died, but the cause and the location of her death were unknown.

News of Houston's death came on the eve of music's biggest night — the Grammy Awards. It's a showcase where she once reigned, and her death was sure to case a heavy pall on Sunday's ceremony. Houston's longtime mentor Clive Davis was to hold his annual concert and dinner Saturday; it was unclear if it was going to go forward.

Damn... it's too much. I can't have it be absorbed to me, it's just terrible. Not much information on the real cause of her death.

Is this really true? .. I just listened to a song by hear earlier today, never could have imagined to read this later on... I don't know how she died but she died fairly young and she has been under a lot of stress lately and have been having... 'problems' from what I have heard.. So I think that we can guess what happened. But enought about that, no matter what happened I hope that she passed away free from pain and while feeling relaxed and calm. I hope that she is in a good place now.

I know what you mean... She has always been one of the biggest singers in my eyes, despise the fact that she lost some of her voice due to the 'problems'. But still... she has just made so many songs that I am positive won't be forgotten in a great while. She was so big, and have been that over the years. I hope she is finding rest now.

Whitney Houston was my favorite female singer when I was in grade 3. I even performed her "The Greatest love of all" song on stage back then.

I never really heard too much of her music, although it was heralded as amazing. My mom liked her a lot as a kid, so it's a shame that such an incredible musician and artist has passed a way. My condolences to her family Rest In Peace, Whitney Houston.

So very horrible... I heard this and almost cried. I called my sister, who is a talented singer as well, and she broke down. Whitney and MJ were both our idols. For the world to lose both of them is a tragedy. After all we are still in mourning for Michael Jackson, so this is just another devastating loss. R.I.P Whitney Houston.

I read an article that said she was found in the bath of her hotel room and supposedly died of an OD

They haven't released the official cause of death. Not sure when autopsy is but it wasn't scheduled to be done right away. All we know is she was found in the tub and there were pills found in her room. No alcohol, just pills. I hope she didn't kill herself. She was drug free and had a bright future D:

I wouldn't dig to deep into what was found or what the cause was until the coroner releases his/her findings.
