so how has the economic recession affected you??

i know the Great Recession is occurring now, and it has affected me a little due to my mom working and my dad being laidoff, he is constantly crabby and complaining about money and not haveing a job, so how is this recession affecting you or your loved ones???

Well, I kinda am working a job I hate right now, but until I find a more suitable one, I'm stuck.
So yeah, it has definitely affected me considerably, with me being a fresh college graduate and all... =(

what did you major in may i ask, i am majoring in Early childhood Education

I majored in biology and Japanese, both useless unless you go on to some form of higher-than-college education.

For bio, you basically have to choose between professional schools (med, dental, pharm...) or research (scientist). For Japanese, it's either interpreting/translating if you're really really good, or becoming a teacher (grad school). I'm currently studying to take the medical school entrance exam.

I've had to delay school for quite some time, and probably a little bit longer it looks like.

My dad lost his job due to the construction company he worked for was shut down due to the guy that ran it was a moron involved with a scandal with our former mayor. He'll be getting back to work in the spring because he was hired by another construction company. Unfortunately i never had a job, even though i've been looking for one since i graduated high school in 2008. I'm in college now, but i still don't have a job. I would have a better chance with a work-study program.

I'm probably one of the few people that this hasn't hit hard. I have two jobs, am a year away from two bachelor degrees and I live with two roommates who aren't in a horrible state. I feel bad for those who have been hit hard and I'm extremely thankful that I was not. O.O

Negligibly. It hasn't really impacted Sweden that strongly, probably a combination of small national debt and an independent currency. Sure, some people were sacked in 2008 and 2009, but now it's all back to normal.

I'd have to say that it has not affected me. Not only are we celebrating economic success, but we have not had to "cut back."

 

Then again, we didn't indulge in frivolous things before the recession. (i.e. Cellphones, cable TV, cars, electronics, ect.)

My work's lost a lot of clients. We're down to our dailies and they've lost a lot of customers so I finish everything by lunch time. I sit around just waiting for the day to end after that.

I'm trying to look for a night job but that's hard right now.

Honestly, it made it harder for me to find a job...Finally did and applied, hopefully I get it.

Well we shop at Aldi now, but I'm cool with that, because I like really any food. I don't really think it was the recession that affected my family, but more of the fact that my mom passed away, because my dad is really good at saving money.

It didn't really hit me or anything, things are still the same for me. My dad still has the same job for more than 20 years now and my mom on the other hand is a full-time housewife so she isn't really affected by it. I'll be starting college in the coming semester and I'm glad about it though I've always wanted to find a job while being on a short break so as not to get bored at home but that's been a tough thing... I've been to interviews and none has given me any calls back.

I'm actually really glad that my father isn't affected by it at all, if he were then it would've been very difficult for our family. =3

Oh well when I was living in California, I used to go to shop at this local market right by my place. I was pretty much living on my own with just roommates, so I think me saving money buy using local transportation and shopping by places close my place was just because I was living on my own.
