I was more or less waiting for the post by Light Buster in here. I really don't see it and fear I'm going blind in my old age.
SHOW ME THIS POST, ADORABLE ONE. And then let me pinch your e-cheeks. I normally only do that for Tonberries. ^_~
Where in freaking blazes did I said "this thread", I only said posts by Light Buster...it could mean anywhere, not this thread specifically.
I GAVE YOU YOU THREAD CLICKY KTHXBAI
http://www.animeforum.com/showthread...ooooooole-year.
Love you. <3
I AM TOO LAZY TO CLICK. DO IT FOR ME AND THEN GIVE ME A WIKI UPDATE ON EVERYTHING. CITE YOUR SOURCES. DO IT NOW, YOUNG PERSON.
(in case you haven't gotten it, I stopped being serious about halfway through my first post in here.)
THEN TOO BAD.
I still love you though. <3
D'awww, thank you. ^_^ I appreciate that muchly.
How the hell did you guys manage this?
Oh it's okay. I understand, but no need to fight over Galleo. I hate seeing you guys fight like this.
How about you all get on topic or stop posting? Lest I get out the Eris Signal.
"The color fades along the intervals I follow."
Okay, let's go back on topic.
I don't think you know what's going on. Disregarding the troll, and disregarding the retarded way some of his mates acted, if you really think the words "moe", "lolicon" and "tsundere" (in particular) are some obscure terminology only known by a cult of elitists like TVTropers, then (no offense) you're living under a rock in terms of today's anime. (Though, if you want my humble opinion, nothing of value was lost)
Every man and his dog who watches anime today knows at least those three words. Sure, OP did mention a lot of archetypes people are not familiar with, not to mention that a lot of people do not understand what archetypes are in the first place, but when it comes to simply knowing some of those words (particularly moe, lolicon, tsundere), you can't have browsed any given anime-related site during the last 3 years without coming across the countless 16-year-old boys going about them everywhere. Those three words and their likes have been all the rage in the last few years' anime. It's indeed strange from a young anime fan's point of view that you watch "anime" (today's anime as they know it) without knowing these words. (In fact, the words are even used explicitly by anime characters.)
What they need to know, however, is that this "terminology" isn't old. You're either not an anime fan at all, were an anime fan before but stopped watching it a few years ago, or still watch it to some extent but have been completely out of touch with anime's (younger) fans, news and websites, and have never watched otaku-oriented, moe or lolicon anime (or pretty much anything that was produced during the last 2 years).

I think we should get on topic guys. Seriously... It doesn't help anyone for you to be backstabbing each other. Anyway: I am familiar with Otaku and thats about it.
I actually HAVE heard of most of them, I was referring to the sort of people who derive a sense of superiority over people who don't know them. It's entirely possible to have watched things you've come across yourself, or to have seen the words used but not pick up their meaning, especially if you're the sort to listen to the kind of rabid fan horror stories I've heard and experienced myself. It doesn't mean that you like it less than someone who does know all those terms, nor does it mean you don't belong on an anime forum.
The two people I referred to in my post may have been trolls, but I can almost guarantee there are people out there that genuinely agree with them, either in whole or to a lesser degree. They are the douchebags I refer to.
Visit the Toy Dungeon Studios Store and buy a shirt or zipper pull, damnit!
I've definitely heard of otaku and know a little bit about the other two traits you've described.

Interesting... Never heard of 'Dandere' (Almost looks like dander :P) anyway, there are many, hehe.
Le'mme see here... Yandere without cheating... I know 'Yan' is devilish or impish, so Yandere must mean someone like 'Yuno' from 'Future Diary' A.K.A. 'Mirai Nikki'. There are many "Tsundere" types such as 'Tsukiumi (Sekirei)' or 'Kirino (My little sister can't be this cute!)', they love in a "no means yes" kind of way. Lolitas and Shotacon, gotta love those little lovers! I don't think anyone has mentioned the "Idiot ball" yet. The 'idiot ball' is the character that recieves pain, torment, and whatever else bad, for everybody's amusement. For example, 'Sunohara (Clannad)' repeatedly gets himself into quirky situations because of his Naivete and his delinquency. He gets kicked, humiliated, and everything else, because of the "My best friend told me to" scenario. Other "Idiot ball" characters I can think of are 'Tamaki (Ouran host club)' and 'Yui (Angel Beats!)'.
SupremeAmericaBossnessOfsupremeSupremacy...ere
Its actually possessed by only one character in all on anime. America from Hetalia.
What this trait means, is that you could tack "Like a boss" on after anything America says or does, and there would be no way to argue it because he is so boss.
what a boss!
Hmmm... Been a whileSit back some time and simply ask yourself, [Link]->"Do you even lift, bro?"<-[Link]
