Visual Novels for PSP (English)

I started writing a program that lets me play visual novels on my PSP. I wanted to know what people thought about it ^-^

This is a freeware game I found online and I wanted to see if the PSP could handle this kinda game. It has music, sounds, and voices and works great. However, every little bit when the game loads new images into ram it lags for about a half second. its hardly noticeable :I

I was planning on making the official project on a more popular anime visual novel such as Clannad. Does anyone have any interest or comments about this? Any input is appreciated.

I say I definitely have admiration for your talent!
I know next to nothing about programming.

I say this will probably be more popular among girls than boys, since I have at least 5 females friends who love reading visual novels or doujin works. But I'm not saying no guy will find this interesting. I myself for one might actually like this idea.

With that said, I say I would definitely be interested, if I had a PSP...>.< But I only have a DS.
Hopefully some PSP owners can offer some more concrete input.

Thanks for the input. I actually think this could be something a lot of people would be interested in if it was a more 'known' visual novel. I got told that Ever 17 is one of the best out there, so I may use that one

Clannad already has a PSP version of it's Visual Novel though...

Thats right. hmmm... do you have a recommendation of a english visual novel thats not already ported for PSP?

What is your goal though? Why do you want to port a visual novel into the PSP?

I'm just interested in doing this because im going to college for game designing and programming and I thought this would be good practice for me. But I wanted to do a project that others would be interested in to, and not only me. If you understand lol.

You do know if you wanna port you would need a software like Homebrew integrated into your PSP, right? Nonetheless I think it's a great idea what you're trying to do here.

I know. I'm using SDLbasic for PSP. My only problem is finding a Visual Novel thats not for PSP already xD :lol:

Oh, I see. Well, what about looking for pre-PSP Visual novels then? Google is your friend.

Everyone's gotta start somewhere. Who knows, this could eventually set you on the path to getting into some really good projects with developers and such.

If you want to start with something popular I'd say your best two options might be Fate/Stay Night (probably the most popular visual-novel, there's no official english version, but there is an english translation patch released by Mirror Moon), or Princess Waltz (again, very popular, and there is an official english release from JAST). Neither game has a PSP version.

I'm definitely interested in the finished product, though I've never homebrewed by PSP...with my luck I'm just about guaranteed to brick it.
