New Death Note 'Live Action' movie - U.S

So I've heard and read about the new Death Note live action movie that is currently being produced. They've said that they will most likely cast Zac Efron as Light Yagami.
And I do admit, I was a fan of him when I was like 12.. YAY HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL.

But I am honestly pissed off about this. I mean, will anyone be able to take this movie seriously is Zac EFRON is going to be casted as Light? I'll just be waiting for him to randomly break out in song and dance.. It'll just be weird and horrible.

What do you guys think?

And actually I'm okay with Zac Efron. You can shoot me for this, but I think he's a fine actor. He's matured a lot since High School Musical. While I don't think he fits Light the best, there could be worse.

Yeah I have to agree he has matured a lot. I did like Charlie St. Cloud, and yeah I was talking about it with my boyfriend the other day, and we both agreed that Zac does look like Light, but I reckon it would just be weird.

I think it would be pretty weird. I haven't seen any of the movies that he was in though, so I don't have an opinion on his acting. Although I wouldn't be able to get any of my friends to watch it because they would just exclaim "ZOMG ZAC EFRON SUCKS DERP"

Usually live action adaptations of animes produced in the United States fail miserably. Hopefully this movie can change that standard, I'll give it my support.

Completely true... It will problably be another one of the Live Action movies that are only fun to watch because of how bad they are...

That and the fact that most of Death Note is set inside Light's head... I think it will be really hard for them to portray Light's toughts without it getting boring.

Most people said Death Note would never be a good anime because it was mostly thought bubbles.

But this is the US. We'll see.

I have no problem with Zac Efron being Light. He looks like him, and I think he would play the part well. The thing that makes me mad about his movie is that they might take out the shinigami.
