Re: 2012 London Olympics!
I have a few lists of team I'll actually support over now. ;P I'm cheering for USA, China, Spain, Brazil, and the UK. Mostly for USA and China.
Re: 2012 London Olympics!
First I just wanted to say that it was really surprising that Japan won Spain (1-0) in male soccer, which was a most surprising score even bearing in mind that Spain didn't had his best team for Japan also didn't have some of their best players. I don't know if you're from America but if you are probably don't like soccer so I'll shut up now xD
Replying your questions:
- I think China (that for the first time in history beated US in the medal ranking, since despite getting less 10 medals they won 51 gold medals against 36 from US), US and England/UK (I think in the Olympics it's only UK rather than England, Scotland or Ireland, at least on 2008 Beijing was like that) will undoubtedly do good. Bearing in mind 2008 Beijing medal table
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/olympics/...2008/countries
I think that also Russia and Germany have good chances of staying in the top-5.
Unfortunately my small country (Portugal) will have a hard task already to get a single medal, that's how small we are :( I'm betting high on Telma Monteiro (judo)
- As for surprises hard to say and I'm not an expert in Olympic Sports, tough I usually watch as much of them as I can. I'd like for Japan to take that place so I'll say Japan just random :p
- Most gold medals I'll say US, hope they can beat China this time but won't be easy at all!
- I'm rooting for my country, Portugal (obviously), but also for US, Japan and for Bolt (Jamaica), that's everything, all the others just want the best to win :p
- As for the last question I'll have to say I have no idea as I don't know yet much thing about anyone here being good at sports.
Re: 2012 London Olympics!
usa africa and japan! ^__^ w00t!
Re: 2012 London Olympics!
Of course I'm rooting for the Americans. I'm also rooting for the Irish. Though I feel bad about the Irish's Dressangeoiweahw (horse prancing), unfortunately it can't get sober enough to participate. ;P I'm also rooting for athletes from the smaller countries, like the female runner for Afghanistan. I'm a sucker for underdogs and such.
Re: 2012 London Olympics!
I don't know who will get medals, but USA will get the most gold medals.. beating all those other loser countries.
Re: 2012 London Olympics!
My predictions:
The most GOLD medals go to China.
The most medals in total also go to China.
USA will be second in total amount of medals and Russia third.
Usain Bolt makes new record by 1 second.
Katie Taylor will get gold medal in boxing.
Maybe i should go to bookies and make my bets there lol, put like one euro on it or something and see if im lucky. If all predictions come off, i should get few thousand for that one euro:P
Im rooting for Estonia, Ireland and England (oh yes, controversional i know).
Re: 2012 London Olympics!
I couldn't even make a decent video of when the Olympic Torch went through my town, God help me trying to take part haha.
(note - I'm still far too lazy to actually UPLOAD that darn video.)
Re: 2012 London Olympics!
Soooo excited! Can't wait to watch the opening ceremony, which was planned by Danny Boyle!
I'm also looking forward to watching the Gymnastics, rowing and of course the 100m final!
I love watching the Russian athletes in the gymnastics and also the Chinese! I just generally love watching all the top athletes from all the countries of the world...I don't specifically support any country in particular!

The crowds were really dense in most of the towns, so that's not surprising xD

Oy, I'll definitely be rooting for Nur Suryani Mohammed Taibi of Malaysia. She's 8 months pregnant, and competeing in the 10-meter air rifle event. http://charter.net/news/read.php?rip....org%3E&ps=995
Good luck to her in the event and with the baby!

Also, there's a blind guy for South Korea kicking butt in the Archery event. http://www.cnn.com/2012/07/27/sport/...html?hpt=hp_c1
Re: 2012 London Olympics!
I am cheering for Brazil, Japan, USA, and hesitantly for Argentina too in soccer. But I am most looking forward to seeing Nadeshiko Japan play...I heard they had their first victory already against Canada. I also enjoy watching the Tae Kwon Do matches~
Re: 2012 London Olympics!
I think Holland won't get alot of medals, but i think we will get a few medals with swimming. Especially the females.
Btw i liked the show to start off the Olympics. Alot different than the one in Peking but really cool in its own way.
Rowan Atkinson * cough *
Re: 2012 London Olympics!
The Olympic torch went through my home town actually however I didn't wake up early enough to see it oh well LONG LIVE SOLIHULL!!!!!!
Re: 2012 London Olympics!
not this crap again ... amount of all medals doesn't tell how good a specific country is,when will you learn this? For a real value you must divide the number of medals by their participants .... that way you get some real numbers!
Re: 2012 London Olympics!
did anyone see how the organisers at Hampden Park screwed up the other day?? When introducing the female North Korean football team, on the big screens they had the SOUTH Korean flag.... I don't think my country could honestly make things any worse !, The North Koreans walked off the pitch.
I will be rooting for China and Singapore :)

It went through mine. Which is unusual because you'd think nobody would have wanted to bring it here out of fear the pikeys would have stolen it whilst they stole the wheels off of the Olympic procession float.
I've been meaning to upload it though. I'm just majorly retarded. I went through and watched it in Crawby or Rawby or something as well (some place near Brigg). Got one of those limited-edition aluminium coke bottles. :]

Right the Irish team would get tons of medals if they'd sober up before the Olympics! :D Funny enough I did some research, and Ireland has 23 medals 12 of the them (1 Gold, 4 Silver, and 7 Bronze) for Boxing. Stereotypes for fun! :D
@sarahc , Heared about the North Korea thing, but thankfully they decided not to be too insulted and continue in the Olympics. Next time, they probably will quit for good.
@Ranshiin , It's a shame Racing Video Games isn't an Olympic sport. Then you could serve her Majesty as an Olympic Mathlete. ;P
@Seung-li , Yay! Now time to get your swim on and watch the swimmers at the pool.
Re: 2012 London Olympics!
I'm kinda sad over Cancellara's fall at road cycling ...
Re: 2012 London Olympics!
GO TEAM GB!!!
Just watching the Table Tennis now. Although I'm waiting to see a match where there's a country to support :p

Re: 2012 London Olympics!
Loved the Rowan Attkinson bit. :)
As far as who I root for, will be pulling for US, Great Britain and Japan mostly. Though to be honest, I tend to just enjoy watching whoever and appreciating the competitors. As long as there are no judging fiascos I'm pretty happy with just doing that.
