I figure I should open a thread for my stuff to get c&c. I want to improve, and making signatures by myself is okay, except that I don't know if it looks good to people or not. x_x I entered some B/SOTWs here if I feel diligent enough to make one and enter. Honestly, I have no motivation. >.> Here are some of my stuff that I've made over the past few months. I use GIMP, by the way.

I'll try to improve and update this thread as much as I can, though I can't make promises. >.>

Just a rule of thumb that I like to use with my typography placement: Try to keep the text close to the focus, just so it won't divert too much attention from the focus

Other than that, you're definitely getting better, especially with using the more advanced effects! The latest one is very exciting :)

Other then what Famahama said, i cant add anything in particual. tho your improving very nicely c: i really like the last one a lot.

@CrimsonMoon : Okay, great, great work I'm viewing here, but I'm gonna' have to give you an 'x' on the 'I have no motivation' line, which sucks the mood out of a potentially rewarding critique. If you'd like people to feel good about making a comment on your posted work, then remarking that you have no motivation, no matter what it is you're referring to, makes my interest, as a viewer, wane a bit.

Other than that, very good pieces of art and I highly encourage you to continue. You're very, very good.

Thanks Unleh and Syndicate, I'll keep that in mind for future reference. Typography has never been my feat, so I need to improve on that.
Thanks Digimon, point taken. I need both motivation and inspiration to keep me going. Other than that, yes, I admit I have no drive other than to improve myself, which is not too bad, I guess. :)

Trying few vectors and glows. I love green. :)

how i create depth is with a drop shadow and the mesh tool as well as a few tricks from basic art i use the mesh tool having a copy of the full image using opacity and tricks fron drawing such as 1 point perspective 2 point perspective and vanishing point then using the mesh tool on white or a light grey to place shines or lighter areas then a drop shadow in the direction opposite of where the lighter spot (if there are surfaces to land a shadow on) you just created are creating an illusion of depth also using a multiple layers together burn or use a dark color and opacity to create the darker portion of whatever you are trying to make three-dimensional i'd show you but i don't have Photoshop and illustrator anymore just gimp.

Everything you create is COOL!! :)

^ Love the contrast and grungy style to it :) The pattern overlaying the dress is sick!

I quite like the green vector signature as well, but the text is very difficult to read... I'd probably switch out the font or change the color to solve that

@Famahama Thank you! :) I notice the white font in the signature is hard to read, so I'll try to improve on that.

ah if you're using gimp use drop shadows and soft brushes with burn for darker areas and overlay for lighter areas its harder to do than in ill and psd combo but that's only because you're actually shading the item and i recommend selecting the item then going to your burn layer as to not step out of the area you want to shade though that is the only way ive found to shade so far i did mass shading in gimp its in the 10 layer sig challenge if you want to look at it

Hey, @CrimsonMoon . I recommend looking up lighting, gradient, and blending tutorials. It kind of looks like you just copied and pasted things together, and I can relate, cause I used to do that a lot.

I have some tutorials on my computer that's getting fixed right now, so when I get it mostly fixed, I'll send the screen shots to you. :)
