Yes, the judge allowed gay marriage to continue in Utah. This makes me happy =]
I really think in our lifetime gay marriage will be legal in all states...when all the old fuddy duddies die off
Yeah, but Utah... that was a surprise.

Well, we are one happy family ;)
I like USA, its nice :)
Edit: Even though the bible condemns homosexuality, i just like USA :)
I have to little experience with homosexuals :)
But ey, aslong as we try to help humanity, then it all works out :)
I don't remember any part of the bible that had GOD recorded as being against gay people. Some of his followers, yes, but he's silent on the matter.
I find it strange though that Christians will claim god is all powerful, yet hold onto the idea that gay people exist in defiance of this.
Plus the fact that it's only a legal issue. Gay people can get married. All you need is a priest... or to tip a sea captain $5. It's just the lisence and legal rights they're arguing over. Seriously from a religious standpoint this is the dumbest argument ever.

Being a Utahn myself as well as a lesbian, this makes me happy. :D
But I must admit, I am still in shock that it actually happened here, though. In Utah. The Mormon capitol of the world. I figured the people here would go out fighting and be the last state to allow anything of the sort. .-.
They're down to their last chance to overturn it too and it'll be a month to a year before the Supreme court gets around to it.
I'm not gay, but I support their rights and hope to work towards a future where nobody cares about this any more. Good luck!

Woo!
Not in Australia though...
I think it's absolutely retarded to not except gay marriage and/or relationships, especially in todays age. Love is love, no matter whom it is with.
Yea, I heard. It was a shocker to me, but I'm glad it happened. I remember people were shocked with Iowa, but I wasn't, cause I know Iowa has been getting more diverse over the years. A lot of immigrants, especially from Mexico, are welcomed to come over to Iowa and live there and can get paid. New comers fix up the towns and make them more populated and better instead of a sea of corn. It's dumb when old Iowans are racist to the immigrants that fix up their towns that they are too old to fix and make them into better places.
It's illegal again while they fight it

Ping pong, it's legal again.

gay
is
oh
kay
It's absolutely fantastic...I love it and can't wait until we make it federal
Yeah it seems like one of those things that the human race will cringe on in 40 years, like segregation laws, etc. I would think that Utah would be one of the last bastions of oppression of gay marriage like that, considering how Mormon and conservative they are in Utah.
I'm all for gay marriage and legal pot. Le's go Obama. Change?
I'm really glad that this is gaining momentum. I remember when Prop 8 passed in California in 2008, and thinking "ha, this isn't going to last long", simply because CA is one of the most liberal states in the country. The main reason it was passed is because the LDS church was one of the leading forces behind the bill. The prophet himself had encouraged the Mormons to donate their time and money into passing the law... and what d'ya know? It passed (if only for a couple years lol).
But yeah, I remember it being a huge deal. I got sick of hearing about it every time I went to church, and I hadn't realized how inherently homophobic my religion was until then. It was probably one of the main things that made me cut myself off from the church, especially since I had friends and family that were homosexual. And the prophet was trying to tell me that their right to marriage was a sin and an offense to God? HA. I don't think so. As far as I'm concerned, my gay friends and family are better people than he is.
And now everyone seems to be shocked that same-sex marriage has been legalized in Utah now. The "Mormon Capital", I guess. The thing is, the LDS church is usually really flimsy with their beliefs and standards. It's almost constantly changing its views to better conform with the rest of society. Maybe it's because they're still worried about persecution, I dunno. But yep, that's why you don't hear as much uproar about this sort of thing as you did back in the early 2000s.
Not only that, but this law wasn't voted on by the people in Utah. It was passed by a federal judge (not sure who exactly; if someone knows please correct me). Almost immediately after the ruling, some Utah officials tried to say that this "activist federal judge was attempting to override the will of the people of the state".
Sorry guys, but civil rights shouldn't be a state issue. You either have equality across the country, or none at all.
Now all that's left to do is wait for more states to follow suit. It'll happen eventually. And then 100 years from now everyone will look back and wonder why we made such a big deal about it.
Pot is legal in Colorado

This makes me VERY happy! :D
I can't believe they haven't decided this yet. I mean legally it's an obvious yes. otherwise it's a pointless discrimination. plus the big argument is about children's wellbeing and for the life of me i can't think of one serial killer who was the kid of a lesbian.
