Need help getting back into fighting games
How in the world do I do combo movements in fighting games?
I dunno if this just applies to U Marvel vs Capcom 3, or any fighting game, but you know how combos say for example, "down, right, down-right, punch," do I:
1. Rotate the joystick in those directions and press the button, or
2. Press down, return to center. Press right, return to center. Press right down, return to center and attack?
This has been boggling the heck outta me.
Re: Need help getting back into fighting games
down, right, down-right, punch
proabably translates as
down, right, rotate joystick from down to right, press button
But it all depends on what sort of pad you are using
took me a while to get what you meant by "return to center"...you do it when you use only a joystick, right?
lol no, don't think too hard about it! It's all supposed to be intuitive!
And don't do anything like "returning to center"...after moving it down, immediately move it right-don't worry, unless you make a crescent motion it won't count as "down-right"
...oh yeah, for all the down-rights, down-lefts etc you have to make crescent motions if you didn't know that already
And I'm speaking only from my fighting game experience, never played the one you mentioned, maybe it's totally different there
Re: Need help getting back into fighting games
Should be the first.
I haven't played fighting games in a long time but combos need to be done fast. If you've ever seen professional fighting game players they do their combos so fast that it's just nothing but constant pitter pattering noise from the controller. No body got time for that return to center nonsense.

If you really want to get back to it, you start by investing in a Fightstick.

Are they any for under 100 bucks that work decently, or am I gonna have to suck it up and buy a $170 one?

Down-right can equal quarter circle forward depending on what game you're playing.
