Yuliya's Signatures

Okay, I will be making a thread with all my signatures. Comments and critique are welcome, as I am an amateur. I use Paint, Photoshop 7, and Gimp, but I don't know how to use half the applications on the last two.

(Most of my signatures using anime are for stories or fanfictions I've written, so I'll explain those stories if it is necessary)

These are very well done especially the ones with Bankotsu in them. He is one of favorite villeins. Also the thing I like best about them is the level of detail you used with both characters. One of them is a little big for my taste but, that's ok it's still very well done. Keep it up.

Honestly I think they are all kinda terrible. Most are over size in my opinion, and it looks at though all you do is put character extractions on a background and slapping some text and a border on it, occasionally using a blur effect on the characters.

Try adding brushes, sparly, swirly, arrows, smilies, white balck solors, anything will help at this point, right now all of these are unfinished in my opnion, they have the base for being a signature but aren't. I'm not the best signature maker but PM me and I can help you improve if you wish. Good luck.

Oh ugh, I HATE adding anything to signatures, in my opinion, they make a composition confusing so you can barely tell what it's about. Characters aren't supposed to blend into backgrounds, the backgrounds are there to help make you're point about what you're trying to say. It's about the character and the text, and making those two things strand out. That's my style and it always will be.

Well that's your opinion and I can respect it but you'll get a lot of flamers that way. And for what you're saying it would fit tge definition of a banner not a signature, signatures are ,ainly for visual appearence while banners are for advertising and have a point. Still I hope for you to improve and good luck with your signatures.

What program do you use to add the text? Cause it seems kind of pixilly sometimes.

Hey Nari, I've been using GIMP for it, but I've noticed that too, it's irritating me

They're all good for Beginner GIMP Users. :P. I like it a lot. I'm not kidding. Because this signatures are all awesome. And they're truly made. The color combination are nice too. But there are problems with the images you've choosen. The Picture Quality seems not right. :/. Too blurred. You should find a good picture with a good quality. Anyways. It's cool!.

These are all going to be Bankotsu, from Inuyasha. You may noticed that in some, I've removed the purple mark on his forehead, and this is because I play a character based off of him and said character doesn't have the purple mark.

They're pretty huge compared to most sigs o___o;

some of you renders are looking a little blury, maybe try to sharpen them up.

Old thread was closed, kinda glad cause I'm embarrassed by some of the sigs in it, god they were awful. Anywho, I hope this thread will be more successful. I make sigs using Paint, Photoshop 7, and Gimp. I'm an amateur, so if you give me critique/advice using complicated graphic lingo I will not know what you're talking about, just a heads up. Most of my siggies are of Bankotsu, Misuzu, or animals. Anyway, enjoy, or at least hope these don't make your eyes bleed.

Siggy I made about being rejected! Funny though, cause I've never been in a relationship so I wouldn't know what it feels like but I would imagine it would suck big time.




I think that's it for now!

I like the first sig, although the text font just doesn't feel right. And if you're going to use that render in the lower left corner, I would suggest lowering the opacity a little more, although I really like the dark streaks over top, it really sets the mood. The next three sigs are really blurry and that's a huge distraction from the rest of the sig. In the purity sig, I like what you did at the top with brush strokes although I think it may be too bright at the bottom. I would suggest putting something more in the background for that one. The SOTW entry one is ok, but its too bright in the middle of the two characters. The background is also boring. The horse one doesn't have much to comment on considering it's not much a sig, you really should've done more to it. The last sig is pretty cool although you definitely should have made it smaller so then you won't have much space to fill. Also, the text is a bit hard to read so I would suggest either making it more bold or using a bolder color. Maybe increase the opacity just a bit on the render too. Oh yes and for the logo, I would get rid of the white space around it, that really takes away from the logo itself.

Here's my latest somethin', I can't think of any text to go with it. Suggestions?

Most of them are what we who has made sigs for a while like to call Large pieces.
Go way smaller on new ones, or if you can`t do small ones in PS, just begin
with big then when your almost done, resize them to something smaller.
400x200 or 400x180 is good sizes ;)

New sig, w00t w00t. For once, I'm actually proud of the text, but does it seem unbalanced?

it seems far too simple, imo.. you could put more effects, to make it look more polished and interesting.
this sig looks flat and dull...the text is hard to read, because it's the same color as the background, and the sig is monochromatic kinda. the border is also the same color.. so it doesnt stand out.. i didnt even notice you had a border until i looked very very very closely..
use other colors from the render other than the yellow. you could have incorporated other colors just as easily.
with that, i hope that helps you improve on your signatures.. hope to see more from you.. :)

You seem to favor layering textures over the main sig, so sometimes it may not come out clearly. I'm not a pro at this, so this is all I can say.
