New Ideas for the Western/Non-Jap Animation section.
Basically the idea is to have prefixes to some of the threads to organize them a bit more/better. If you'd like an example the Video Game section is already doing it by console ([Multi], [Wii], [PS3], [Xbox], and so on). http://www.animeforum.com/forumdispl...69-Video-Games
I'm thinking along the lines of [Movie], [Disney/Pixar], [80's], [90's CN], [90's Nick], and so on, even by show should there be a bunch of threads for one show/character of a show.
Have any input, questions, or ideas for other prefixes? Please let us know.

i think that a good ideal

Re: New Idea for the Western/Non-Jap Animation section.
I like this and all but unlike Video Games, things like Cartoons branches out too much. First thing, it really shouldn't be divided by decade, I just think it might make things more complicated that it should be. Just keep it simple such as "[Nick]", [CN]" and for Disney cartoons such as Recess or Phineas and Ferb(?) could fall under "[Disney/Pixar]" I guess.
There's so many genres that you can't divide it into so and a lot of cartoons have broadcasted in many channels that it's indefinite on what prefix is will fall under.
I guess you can put the main current big channels and prefxes and every else will fall as "[Other]".

Movies
Cartoons
Comics
I think keeping the subforums very general like this should work enough =3

Yeah, this should work plus the one I added.
CGI would be things like Jimmy Neutron.

It could also be for CGI movies, where they could be discussions on how many explosions Michael Bay feels he needs in all his movies [lol]

This is for prefixes though and not subforums. xD But that's so true.
I dunno if Transformers can count as CGI though...I mean, if they do then a crapload of movies would fall under it.

Nah, I would think movies done completely in CG, like Up and Tangled

You mentioned Michael Bay so I'm like 0_0

Re: New Idea for the Western/Non-Jap Animation section.
True, we could just break it down by channel. [CN], [Nick], [KidsWB], [Foxkids], [UPN], [MTV], [Disney/Pixar], and [Other]. Though we could just let other be un-prefixed.
The [Movies], [Cartoons], [Comics], and [CGI] runs into the problem of shows and they're respected movies, like Jimmy Neutron and Ben 10. Also, Spider-man has movies, cartoons, comics, and a show made with CGI.
I see the point about the decades organizing, but with some of the 80's cartoons does anyone remember what channels they were on?
Also what about stuff on Adult Swim? Should we make it [AS], or just use [CN]? And what about Dreamworks movies? Should that be [Dreamworks]?
And @MaruDashi , This is just for prefixing, there's not really enough activity and threads/posts to start doing subforums and such.

Well, it would be a thread just on him, cause CGI explosions is all hes really known for lmao
-
Re: New Idea for the Western/Non-Jap Animation section.
[CN/AS] should do.
And KidsWB and FoxKids are both defunct channels. And CWKids shows anime so pretty much it would be out of place.
I guess I will help you out with detail later. Gotta take care of some stuff first.

XDDD You wanna just make a thread labeled Michael Bay-Explosions! So everyone can talk about their favorite Michael Bay Explosion there? J/K...
And @Kaitou+ , You have a point, but we still can talk about them defunct or not. I think Fox/FoxKids still does Saturday morning cartoons, though.
And we can't forget about that Jetix thing on whatever channel that's on. Though Jetix might be in the same boat as CWKids.

KidsWB did Jackie Chan Adventures, Xiolin Showdown and Mucha Luca (Gigante) which all air on CN. The rest of it was anime, like Pokemon, Yugioh and other crap. Oh yeah, and Teen Titans...which is Cartoon Network as well.
FoxKids, I guess I stand corrected on that one. But not about it doing runnings. The channel is defunct. I like the idea but there's just soooooo many channels, if you want to do for every single one of them. For example the Video Game section has "[Legacy/Classic]" for anything pre-six(6th) gen (Ps2, GC, OXbox) so adding the prefix of the channels that are airing the popular shows should do. And maybe the channels that aired good cartoons out of respect as well. And by respect, I mean respeeeeeeeeeeeeect.

I'm sorry, I meant Pre-7th...it doesn't have for the 6th Gen.
But you still get my point. Only the current and deserving channels should get a prefix.

Re: New Idea for the Western/Non-Jap Animation section.
So just the modern channels and [Classics] for the old stuff and other for the rest?

CN, Nick, Disney, CC are my inputs.
And yeah, pretty much. It's a lot more simple to label and to find as well. I'm pretty sure, I can tell you right now I don't want to scroll down through a huge list of prefixes.

Re: New Idea for the Western/Non-Jap Animation section.
Yea, I know what you mean. Kaitou Ace and I were just talking about it, and he was saying that it being too specific is just as bad as too general.

Exactly.
You do not want to have a lot prefixes like 50s 60s 80s 90s nick 90s current nick old cn new cn sucking cn. It's waaaay too confusing, you know? I don't exactly what he means with too general though. Like putting Family Guy under CN?
But yeah, just do a bit of research on what channels are very popular to deserve it's own prefix. That ones I named are the obvious ones. CC being Comedy Central with South Park.
-
Re: New Idea for the Western/Non-Jap Animation section.
Well there's not a whole lot. Fox has their Animation Domination on sundays, and Saturday morning Cartoons. Cartoon Network with Adult Swim, and Nickelodeon, and also the Disney channel, are pretty much dead ringers. Comedy Central has South Park, Futurama, and Ugly Americans, but fair amount of their animation is before a lot of folks' time, like Dr. Katz. But them having a prefix does make sense.
Defunct Channels could all go under one thing like [Defunct] or [De-Chan].
With Disney shows and movies, would it be best to just lump them all in [Disney/Pixar] or seperate them like [Disney-TV] and [Disney/Pixar-Movie]? As far as Dreamworks, A fair number of their shows are based on their movies, so lumping them together makes a lot of since.
-
Re: New Idea for the Western/Non-Jap Animation section.
Yeah, [Dreamworks] could work separately although Kung-Fu Panda's CGI is on Nick.
I dunno man, I would help you out but I don't wanna sound like I'm taking over or something since this is your section and don't want to make the decisions for you. You feel me?
-
Re: New Idea for the Western/Non-Jap Animation section.
Fair enough, I'm just trying to get a good idea what folks would like and see where we can take this. If someone wants to do something else, or has another idea, I'm all ears.

No defunct tag though, just the main channels, [Classic] and [Other].

'K. Seems easy enough. Anyone else want to chime in?

So the idea is only prefixes?

Pretty much, unless you've got something else. I'm open to any ideas.
