Ah, I'm glad someone else has had the opportunity to view this wonderful anime! I consider it to be my favorite, because it has such an interesting storyline, characters, and animation. The Twelve Kingdoms thrives on drama, action, and fantastic character developement. I hope anyone reading this may consider buying the first dvd/vhs!

You can really tell what the characters feel, and the story runs smoothely. I only have the first three volumes; I am definately going to obtain the rest this Christmas.

I couldn't have said it better myself. I have seen up to episode 35 and I'm completely in love with this series. The anime is based on the "Twelve Kingdoms" novels and it is really well done. Although it can be a little slow at times, it will still keep your intrest and it never gets old or repetitive. I would compare it to Lord of the Rings, because it is actually that good.

Plot Summary from AnimeNewsNetwork~

Yoko Nakajima, an unhappy high school student, is one day suddenly faced with a strange man who swears allegiance to her. After a battle with demon-like beasts, he then takes her to another world along with two of her classmates. There, her appearence has changed and she can uderstand the language even though her classmates cannot. But their status as "Kaikyaku" (people who come from earth) makes them hunted fugitives, so they wander the land of the 12 countries, simply trying to survive and to figure out the reason why they were brought to this world.
