Title: Requiem of Shadows

Plot:
Many years ago before humans existed, gods and natural deities coexisted without conflict. That all changed when the great Izanami and Izanagi had a great spat. When Izanami died and entered the Underworld, she began plotting the demise of her ex husband. Several millennium passed by, her revenge now entering fruition.

It is now the year 2012; the modern day of mankind. Strange phenomena have been reported around Japan, the UK and America for nearly a decade. Until recently, mortals have only been frightened by spirits and minor yokai. However, deadlier creatures and spirits have been popping up all over the world. Risen undead have been terrorizing small towns, disturbed spirits evicting human residents. Local police and supernatural fanatics were unable to take care of monster attacks and hauntings. They have had to hire freelance mercenaries with peculiar abilities. These powerful individuals can enhance their powers by initiating a contract with a god or goddess of Japanese origin.

Players must now join together to rid the world of the monsters arriving from the Underworld. They will unite under the banner of the Guild of Shadows lead by Zaryte Shironagi. With the assistance of this mysterious man, they can create a contract with deities.

• Bio (5 sentences minimum): Zaryte Shironagi began his life in an orphanage when his parents were devoured by a pack of risen twenty eight years ago. On his thirteenth birthday, he vowed to destroy every monster he came across. At sixteen, his ability to manipulate fire manifested when he accidentally burned down a cathedral while fighting a greater harpy. Prior to his twentieth birthday, the goddess Inari contacted him in a dream and told him of Izanami's plan for revenge. With that, he accepted the contract and now yearns to destroy all things evil.

Bio (5 sentences minimum): Raised by parents who always wanted a Daughter, Wynn was never treated paticularily well. However, He was born to a wealthy, Upper class family, and as Such, had alot of money thrown at him, to keep him out of sight. Wynn learned how to do everything himself- walk, talk, read and write. He even went to school, though he didn't earn many grades, as he was self taught. When he left school, He returned to his Parents house, and began to teach himself fencingm, swordplay and archry, with help from his clsoest friend- The butler, Geoffy, or 'Jeff'. Then, with the monster Attacks, he decided to study up on magic. After learning a little, He went off to fight as a freelancer, and hoppefully do something good with his life. Argus, faithful to the last, gave him an outfit apropriate to his background, claiming that to 'fight monsters, one must look their best.'

Bio: Abby grew up in a normal middle class family. However from very young it became clear she could not stand sunlight really wel. The allergic reactions varied from heavey skin rashes wich would last for days to blistering. The doctors adviced to only let her go out in the early mornings and evenings and wearing a cloak during the day. her room was moved from the second floor to the basement. This was her savior monsters came into her small town late in the afternoon and rampaged. abby who longed for a friend that could stay with her through the day and keep her safe on her evening walks studied magic and specially healing and summoning. the healing for when her skin would be burned and the summoning to get a friend. By accident she summond a young neko-mata that day. when she heard screaming the two tailed feline kept her from gong upstairs and when the demons did break the door down he killed them. That night she was contacted by Tsukuyomi in her sleep and accepted her as her goddes. her weak healing became stronger and she was given a special miror necklace to use offensive magic. The next night she rode on the two tailed cat out off town, with nothing but a few belongings and a picture of her parents.

Aum: The letter A was the first letter of the ancient Sanskrit alphabet meanwhile Um was the last. Together they form the sacred syllable Aum; which represent the beginning and the end of all things. Akane's hidden technique begins by summoning her two Komainus which in the Shinto and Buddhist beliefs, one Komainu has a mouth open to symbolize the Sanskrit letter A while the other Kominu has its mouth close to represent the Um letter. By doing so Akane can then begin to utilize the surrounding flora to her liking. But because this hidden technique derives from the Aum, the strength of Akane's technique depends on what stage of Aum the flora was in.

Summon:

Two Komainu [Guardian Lions]

Biography:

Akane is one the direct descendants of the Minamoto, one of the ancient four Great Noble Houses of the Heian Era. In ancient times the Minamoto clan was once part of the Imperial Family of Japan, but because of monetary issues were demoted back into not the ranks of royalty but of the nobility. Something that till to this day the Minamoto clan had not forgotten. And thus eventually the Minamoto would become known as a not only the sacred armorers to the Imperial family but also a samurai clan. As part of the Minamoto clan, Akane was expected to excel in any military aspect solely for the fact that they, the Minamoto clan, must protect the Imperial family at any cost, at least officially on paper that was the case. In a male dominated clan, Akane was often ousted with the excuse being that she was too soft, unfit for battle and above all that she was a woman. The harder she tried to earn herself a spot in the clan the harder she was casted outside and seen as bothersome. In a final effort to exile Akane, the clan sent her off as a tutor to a foreign land.

Akane felt betrayed and bitter about her clan's actions, but her only option was to accept it silently and so the pivotal point began in Akane's life. Upon arrival in China, Akane was greeted by a large farming family and a gloomy gray sky that showered its landscapes with endless snowflakes that gently fell from the sky like angels that had descended from heaven. Quite a different scenery from the modern day dazzling lights of Kyoto. Akane thought to herself this would be her new family and she might as well do the job right.

In her new home Akane was hired to teach the Huang's sons and daughters the values of humility and perseverance, academics and also the art of war. To an war expert like Akane it should've be an easy task, but back then and perhaps even now Asian traditions dictate that such things are better left off for a man rather than a woman. Again Akane was being targeted not because of her lack of skills but because she was a woman and not a man. This prevailing factor would often result in small skirmishes with the village elders, but Yuan Liang Huang, having a rather liberal philosophy often ignored the elders' complaints.

Seeing that the Huang family would not yield to their concerns, the village elders decided to take the matters into their own hands. Back then supposedly a new drug was just beginning to spread over the continents and therefore was relatively unknown in the small farming Hunan province. But there were nasty rumors about the new drug and so one of the village elders suggested they give this to the new villager...to teach the woman where her place really is. And so the village elders exploited one major weakness that the Huang family had, the son who had a chronic illness.

The following weeks were rather uneventful for the small farming village, but somehow Akane could feel a poisonous aura whenever the several blades of bamboo leaves rustled in the wind. Because of her training Akane knew that this ominous feeling could only be conjured by the supernatural, the yokai. Then one day as the Huang family was out in the field harvesting the tea leaves, a messenger arrived at the Huang's household. The messenger told that he was ordered to give this small pouch containing the new medicine to the Huang family. Slightly suspicious Akane questioned the messenger as to who had sent it and what the medicine did. The messenger went on to explain that it was a distant relative whom knew about the family son's illness and just wanted to help out. Since the messenger was left out of the true details his expressions were genuine.

After the messenger left, Akane was not completely convinced about the story she was told and so Akane proceeded to examine the powder like substance. She opened the pouch aside from being a slightly beige tint, the said medicine had no smell or anything that attracted Akane's attention that it would indicate that this was not to be taken. Although reluctantly Akane administered the drug and mixed it in with that afternoon's tea. Yet little did Akane know that she would be the source of bloodshed in the small farming village. After they were done drinking tea the Huang family returned to work and the day went on as usual. But as night fell upon the village and it was replaced by a clear night sky the drug began to take effects upon the entire Huang family and Akane. The wind outside began to furiously pick up and a loud rustling noise could be heard among the bamboo forest.

Instantaneously, Akane could feel the drug pulsating through her body violently and causing a numbing sensation. But it was soon replaced by a surge of intense mixed emotion. Akane deliriously laughed to herself and said "Because there is something you have to protect, because there is a reason you can not die that enables you to live on, those are foolish fantasies of the weak...what is so wrong about being a woman...does those filthy dogs really think that they are above me...screw them..." It was during this stupor like state that the ancient tutelary god of the Minamoto clan, Yawata no Kami, revealed himself to Akane. The only thing that the god had said to Akane that night was to become the dove. Immediately after forming the contract and agreeing to "becoming the dove" Akane received the God's blessings and powers.

I won't be able to post as regular as I use to but it seems you have interesting things planned. So I'll try.

The power to reflect harm away from its intended target.

Hidden Technique:
Karma.

Akuta draws all hostile intent and harm towards him protecting others. Karma affects all people, creatures and spirits all the same. It does not discriminate. Karma causes several effects:
First. Attacks become redirected at him regards of their original target.
Second. Any people around him are healed of their wounds and those injuries are inflicted on him instead.
Lastly. While Karma is still held, any harm inflicted to another near him is done to him instead. Unlike the second cause this is not inflicted then healed, but instead goes straight to Akuta and doesn't happen to the original victim.
Karma's only clause is that it will not stop self inflicted harm.

Summon:
????
No one knows what Akuta’s summon is, only that it exists within his body itself and can manifest a set of five Chains that emerge from anywhere on Akuta’s skin. This does not inflict any harm to him but it still pierce through his flesh, leaving lasting scars. Each chain ends in a sickle that bears one of the Godai symbols on. Akuta rarely uses them to defend himself, but they are at the command of the summon, and it is not as kind as Akuta.

Bio:
Akuta has always been an unlucky individual. Said to be born under a cursed star, he was abandoned at the doors of a Amaterasu temple. Taken in by the monks, he was raised alongside the pupils there. Bad luck continued to follow the child. Because of the stigma attached to him and how he was found he was teased by the younger students that came to the temple. They would insult him and go out of their way to make his life more miserable. Yet all the time they kept a distance from him. Why? Because some of the things they would say was based on truth. Bad things tended to happen around Akuta; people would get hurt, object break and tragedy strike.

Yet despite all this Akuta did not grow up a bitter person. Instead it made him realise the value of things. He appreciated what good things did happen and never once found did he find himself hating those around him. He even took the nickname they gave him as his own, Akuta. This was despite its meaning being ‘Trash’ or ‘Dust’. He also vowed to protect others without inflicting misery. To that end he studied hard in the various ways he could bring a bit more brightness and a bit more luck into other people’s lives.

Akuta however was unlucky in this aspect as well. He found he had no ability at all to heal others, to teach, or even to comfort them. His voice comes out at an unnatural tone, one that causes people to shiver. This has had an effect on him and has made him a quieter person, afraid in case he inflicts misery on others. However during a bad fever Akuta came to the realisation that the best way he could help others was to shoulder their pain himself and prevent it from reaching them in the first place. As such he began to practice a style that would allow him to balance and redirect misery away from others.

Akuta is now a Monk within the Temple he has spent his life in. He is no grand master, no person of particular note, and even now he is still avoided for the aura that surrounds him. But he is content. Each day he tries his hardest to help others and each day he goes to sleep a little bit prouder of any good he has done. But most recently there was a large change in the world. Akuta didn’t know what it would bring and spent a lot of time in prayer and meditation for those who may be suffering. He felt his own burden increases as the misery of others did. It was becoming too much for even him.

It was during one of these prayers that he was overcome with images and visions he didn’t understand. Sounds, scents and feelings of a strange origin overcame his senses and he collapsed into a sleep that lasted several days. When he awoke he was assaulted by new feelings, new perceptions and he could swear he could hear a voice whispering into his ear. He soon discovered to his horror that he had accepted, unknowingly, a contract with Amaterasu. What he received in return he has not told anyone, though it soon became known that a violent summon had taken residence within him. Yet even the nature of that is a mystery to others. He has never spoken of the contract, what he received or what he paid, but he did suddenly expressed an interest in Contracts. His first aim was to find the Guild of Shadows, where there would be others like him, and find out what he could there. If along the way he could relieve the misery of others, it would only further his cause.

Bio:
A baby washed ashore after a ship met its demise, Raphael was fortunate to be found by a villager and thus he was saved. This village however was far from ordinary. Although living peaceful lives on the surface, they have kept the tradition of raising assassins with Fuujin as their Deity. He was renamed Kurogane by his current parents and upheld the village tradition. He was brought up well and excelled in his training, so well that the people around him started thinking if he was born to kill. He underwent the ceremony of manhood where 4 others of his fellow trainees were told to go through the cave of Yomi to refine their soul. 5 days later, he succeeded by finding his way out through the other side of the cave. Unfortunately the others didn’t make it. He was brought to the elders to report on what he saw and experienced. He answered them “Hell. I saw hell and insanity in that cave.” True enough that was the test of the spirits to see if the persons soul is worthy. “So I assume the others lost themselves t insanity but why not yourself?” asks another. “I learned to accept it and somehow my soul has a balanced state than letting it take over.” He replied. “Well done now to finish your rite of passage, you may pray to Fuujin-sama to ask his blessing.” the elders said then he meditated in Fuujin’s temple. There he meditated and prayed until he heard a voice. “Shounen. I am impressed with you and your achievements. A coming storm appraoaches, will you be my champion?” the voice asked. “I will be honored great spirit… No Fuujin-sama!” he says as he looks at the great figure behind him. “Well done! It has been centuries since the last time someone has seen my full form. Their eyes and spirits can’t grasp who I am! I give you my blessings boy and a companion! Although our time for celebration is cut short... Make haste back to the village and save as many as you can.” Says Fuujin as a Kamaitachi appears and bows to Kurogane. Kurogane ran back to the village only to find it being attacked by demons. “Fuujin-sama! Lend me your power to banish this evil!” he says. “Very well! This is “Mu.” A formless weapon that takes shape of that the users thoughts. Use it well and prove I have not been mistaken!” Fuujin said and a jewel landed on Kurogane’s hand. As promised the jewel took many forms as the battle progressed. Kamaitachi was giving back up with its sickle hurricane. The battle ended but a lot was lost. One of those loss was Kurogane’s foster parents. On his mother’s last moments, she reveled who he was and gave him his documents, money, and a letter/will that says to take care of him that were found in the basket when he was washed to shore. “The village is finished. They ate all the women and children and killed most of the men. Your mother was fortunate but not as fortunate to spare her life. If you wish to leave and find your path, I will not hold it against you. Use your name and documents but remember. You will always be the Kurogane that grew up here and touched our lives. Thank you… Now go!” says the elder. With that, Kurogane… No… Raphael Petrichov made his way to the fray where Fuujin guides him to meet with Zaryte Shironagi of the Guild of Shadows to find out and put a stop to the madness.

Is it too late to join? I'd like to make a character, but I have a question. In terms of our gods, I'm not very fluent in asian mythos, so can we simply make up the god profile? Also, this RP is in modern time, yes?

Weapon: Crystalline Sapphire Orb [Picture] (A super-dense sphere of Sapphire-colored crystal, hovering in Aoi's hand at all times. She can shift it into anything, however, all parts must be attached to one another, or the dismembered fragments will disintegrate. If the ball is stolen, it will slowly decay until it is utterly destroyed. The only way to obtain another is via her deity.)

Magic: Crystal (Earth, but only gemstones and crystal.)

Hidden Technique: Elemental Transmutation (Ability to liquidize solid states of matter. By rearranging the atomic structure of said Earth, liquidization can take place without changing temperature to melting point. The effect will end if concentration of magic is lost. Ability gifted by Suijin.)

Summon: Sapphire Golem (Incredibly slow, yet strong shape-shifting mass of Sapphire. In reality, it is as big as Aoi.) [Example 1 Example 2]

Appearance: Aoi - The Manipulator

Bio (5 sentences minimum): Aoi was born and raised under a strict policy, set by her parents. Through stubborn discipline, she mastered the ways of earth magic when she was 8, but at a price. She gained no affection or congratulation for her skills. Even when she was at her peak of skill, her parents never gave her the true love she wanted. She grew emotionless and empty, unable to make friends, and a mindset of never being good enough for anyone. Aoi was tough as the earth itself by the time she was 19, and as strong as it's earthquakes. However, she wanted more power, she begged for it, never thinking of herself to be the slightest admirable. Slowly she drove herself to madness, and had to drop her classes when she surpassed even her master. Even then, she pleaded for more from her deity, and finally, even Aoi's god abandoned her.

Aoi broke down in her apartment, not coming out for several days. She nearly starved herself, feeling rejected from not only her parents, but the very gods themselves. Aoi nearly died of malnutrition until Suijin, the goddess of water, blessed her with special water powers. Aoi's weight was restored, her belly filled, and mind suddenly cleansed, however, she retained her memory and emptiness. Although she did not gain water abilities, her earthy powers became severely limited to special substances such as crystal and gemstones. Aoi was also given a unique power, the ability to turn solids into liquid, without melting it. Finally, she was gifted a Sapphire spirit that resided in a special form of Sapphire.

Aoi became devoted to Suijin, and soon found her real purpose. She joined the Guild of Shadows, where she finally got praise for her skills. However, nothing could fill the void that resided in her heart. Even though she was seemingly flawless in her techniques, her skills were still limited very specifically.

Name: Lieutenant Jonathan Tynes

Magic: Void <Limiting to spiritual, mental, and bodily energy. Explained in his hidden techniques/powers.>

Summon: A big ten foot tall, twelve foot long black wolf is what he can summon with help of Hachiman, the God of war and protector of all people of Japan. This creature is part of John's soul, where it to be destroyed when John summons it, he would lose a part of him and summoning another could prove fatal if his soul isn't fully mended through meditation.

Weapons: Tar-21 Assault Rifle, M24 SWS sniper rifle, Ninety-two pistol, three fragmentation grenades, one smoke, 10 inch long serrated combat knife, and his own bare hands

Hidden Techniques: Riastrad: Battle rage where Jonathan loses all humanity and turns into a stone cold killer incapable of emotion for who's life he takes. This is an ability granted to him by Hachiman.| SEALs Resolve: When John calms down and depletes his body of all fear whatsoever in order to think clearly in a tough situation. This is a self given ability mentally founded upon warfare experience and coping with the loss of friends on the field.

Appearance: A tall and well built man with hair cut to military standards. His muscles are large due to intense physical training. His face would be handsome were it not for scarring from former wounds. Eyes with clashing colors make up for this though, a stunning blue/grey color that can be found rather attractive when he isn't in a cold and ruthless disposition.

Tattoos- US Navy SEAL emblem on the right forearm, a curling snake on his left.
Disabilities- Wearing down knees, will give out most likely as he gets older and puts more strain on them. Due to alcoholism and at times withdrawal, John has a horrid temper. He changes moods real quickly in a flash from apathetic to absolutely enraged. This doesn't earn him many friends, but it certainly scares the hell out of his enemies because he is so unpredictable.

Biography: Jonathan, or John as he is called casually by friends, was a US Special Forces Officer. He grew up in the United States and never really stayed in the same spot once he began to deploy. John never really talks about his family or his life before the military, so nobody really knows anything about his back ground. After a few years of action, John was deployed to Japan where a mission went wrong with a peculiar anomaly. He, with the help of his firing team took down a horde of hostiles that were, for lack of a better term, zombies. They succeeded in defending the village, but at a price.

Everyone except for Jonathan died in that firing team of twenty US SEALs. John didn't bother calling for an evacuation of his person, instead he stayed with the villagers to defend them and help them recover at any cost. In his time there, he began having strange dreams and visions of warfare, samurai and ashigaru in battle to be exact. These dreams were vivid and went on for a week straight, but on the last day of the week, the god Hachiman visited him in a dream and spoke to him. The god was grateful that John had stayed behind to defend people that he was a stranger to and rewarded John with his powers of Riastrad<Riastrad is of Gaelic origin, but it best describes what happens> and his summon. In return, John swore an oath to do as Hachiman willed and to defend his people. Now that the village has established a defense, John moves on to find more people to help and to do his new God's will. His journey has only just begun.

I've no clue what would go with the lore of this RP, so I have a few questions. Are his guns allowed? Is he carrying too much gear? He scavenged the sniper rifle from one of his dead squad members. Should I list how much ammunition he has? <Question directed at Kaze Shigure >
