Why do administrators on this site tend to overreact?
I posted this http://www.animeforum.com/showthread...t-a-great-idea and got banned for it. I didn't put a /sarc or JK at the end of it, but it was pretty obvious that it was just a joke. Why did I get banned for scamming? It wasn't a scam. It was a joke. Why don't the admins on this site have a sense of humor?

Re: Why do administrators on this site tend to overreact?
It's still spam if you aren't serious.
Anyway, I'm no mod or admin, but I'm pretty sure I can channel one's soul through my own. Okay, here goes: "Because you're a dumbass. You do dumbass things so we don't really care how serious you are. Act stupid, get banned. No one really cares."
If you're really that upset, I reported the post. So please, give me you childish flaming
Ohey I'm a mod now kek

Re: Why do administrators on this site tend to overreact?
Back and already posting stupid threads about stupid things that would be better in PM's. Classic Animedude. Oh, how I didn't miss you.
A scam is a scam mate, whether it's serious or not. It should never be looked upon lightly. You're an idiot for even posting about it, the outcome is kinda obvious.

There are somethings people should not joke about. and that thread was one of them.

"Why do administrators on this site tend to overreact?"
Why do you on this site tend to overreact? I think you need to figure that out, first. Maybe just leave the site permanently and go somewhere else.
Alternatively:

Deal with it.

Re: Why do administrators on this site tend to overreact?
As I have explained before
Quote:
Ok, so because of your long history of posting crap and being a general headache for moderators, you're pretty much persona non grata in misc. Where others would get a warning, you get banned. If there's even a really far-fetched way a one could argue one of your threads should be closed, they will be. In short, you've spent your second chances.
The treatment is not fair, but on the other hand, you really have to be systematic in your idiocy to antagonize the mods to this level. It's like a work of art. In a way, you should be proud of what you've accomplished. There's only a very small group of people who have ever gotten on my nerves to this degree.

Re: Why do administrators on this site tend to overreact?
I know on one forum you're not even allowed to publicly discuss moderator/admin actions
We should adapt to that rule as well. At least when OP is VG/VD
-
Re: Why do administrators on this site tend to overreact?
I honestly don't mind allowing a discussion. The moderation of misc is pretty arbitrary by design, because of that carte blanche "if you're being an idiot, we can deal with you as we see fit"-statement in the rules, so some checks and balances are necessary.
Well, within reason of course. If AD5555 refuses give it up and keeps spamming these threads, I'll just ban him again as per my previous post in this thread.

I would approve. Base it on the grounds of staff harassment.

Re: Why do administrators on this site tend to overreact?
Bookmark my new one instead, the original post had some weird sentence structure problems and a typo or two. ;-)

Re: Why do administrators on this site tend to overreact?
I decided to humor him once and saw one of his blog posts directing to his blog apparently.
Humored him = Clicked the link. It tried to instantly download a virus.
GGWP.

Normally I don't mind such a thing, I actually kind of like it as a means of feedback for how someone is doing. But in the case of VG, it's already been explained, reiterated, regurgitated, and rehashed countless times on countless perma-banned accounts (and by countless numbers of staff). Failure to follow the rules at this point and wanting to cry about it only puts him in the below 0 I.Q. category or in the wanting someone to desperately love and attend to him because he can't get none on his own merits. Either way, 65.9% of his threads simply just go into the trash shortly after being posted, because they're junk not suitable for posting even on a pedophile's tumblr blog, pure and simple. Keep in mind there's a (very) small percentage of actually decent or could be worthwhile threads still up and running by him, and the rest is what one would except to see on a pedophile's tumblr blog.

EWWWWWWW I think we're gonna have to quarantine you. I mean, one should never click on a link from VG. Might get some sort of super computer herpes or something, like Internet Explorer. -sprays a whole can of Lysol on Solomore.- To the CDC with you!

There's also the fact that sometimes mods do bad things that actually need public attention.
In the case of VG/AD, there's really no need for a rule. It's VG/AD. He's in such bad standing with the mods (or me anyway) the fact you ate a Hamurger last Thursday is legitimate enough reason to close his threads in my opinion.

You've grown soft, bra.
Or worse: democratic.

Re: Why do administrators on this site tend to overreact?
VG is the whipping boy of AF, deservedly. when all you do is post crap, all you're gonna get is crap in return.
-
Re: Why do administrators on this site tend to overreact?
Because you're VG.
Simple.
-
Re: Why do administrators on this site tend to overreact?
I love how banning him screwed up the user title I gave him.
But what I find really intriguing is the fact that I've come across him on other forums where he's totally normal.
-
Re: Why do administrators on this site tend to overreact?
You do realize he's just going to come back and use a different name and maybe IP address right?
At least when he was allowed in under the old name we all recognized him immediately and knew to ignore him.

You're giving his tech-savvy more credit than it actually deserves. Dude doesn't even know how torrents work.

That is true, but also is the fact that there are plenty of ways to handle such internally and externally for the benefit of the forum and all of its members (staff included). In the end though, we're all human (save for the few robotic members here) and very much fallible at times.

Well then, it's time to ban him again. XD J/K.
