Not a good picture, and you should learn to link properly. Also, why not post a link to an article so I can read and learn more about this pen-sized baby? That'd make this thread a little more interesting.

Im surprised such a small baby survived. I personally wouldve kept the baby there until it was a normal size, and then allowed the parents to take it home
Just thinking about what effects this premature birthing may have on the child depresses me, I can't bare to think about it.
Sure the baby is premature, but its pretty dang obvious that pen is not a normal size, its a huge pen, and the baby is bigger then it. This thread fails to deliver.
I would think the baby the size of a real pen wouldn't survive, I dont know if it would be possible for our organs to function properly at such a frail, small size.
it blows my mind that that kid is still alive. I'm no doctor but at that stage of development it doesn't seem like any of its vital organs should have been functioning, not to mention the problems she might develop later in life.

Wow...Pen Sized Baby...Wonder if they brought it home in thier pocket O.o? I'd imagine that the little guy might have a few health problems in the future with such small organs. Still It's a miracle that he's still alive. Maybe they should have kept it in the hospital for a little longer, least till it's about an average baby size.
For Petes sake look at the picture, the baby is a lot bigger then a normal pen.
I still believe it's that size.
Wow 21 weeks is only about 5 months!
That's really early for a noraml 9 month gestation period.
That kid will have a hard young life probably with many complications especially with the lungs since those are usually last to develop in a fetus.

Indeed...that pen is colantic*; more like one of those jumbo sharpie markers we sometimes use in my art classes. Not saying the baby isn't small and premature (poor thing ,o o,) ...but it is most certainly not the size of your average writing utensil.Quote:

Well, this is odd. I heard something about birth effects, and as Chimes mentioned, that'd be pretty much impossible for a human baby to be that small.My pinky finger bone when I was born was like a pen/pencil.And if you say she was as big as my pinky, we got a real Tom Thumb.
