its whatever. i'm not affected, so i dont particularly care either way.
They need to strike down more than D.O.M.A. Will it affect anybody here? We are mostly young People here.
I barely even know what DOMA is but apparently gay people can marry in California now that's all dandy but please make that happen to Illinois.
In short, there are certain federal benefits (including joint tax returns, pension protection, and health issuance) given to married couples. DOMA (established in 1996 if i remember right), denied these benefits to same-sex couples whos marriage was recognized by state law. In other words, same-sex marriage is now legally treated more equally to heterosexual marriage with only individual state laws standing in the way.
If Men want to marry Men, let them. If Women want to marry Women, let them. My Church disagrees, but I have already been excommunicated. What more can they do?
